Looking at buying a new monitor and I'm wondering, if i buy a 4k screen now can i run it a lower resolution effectively?

The reason I want to do this is because I'll likely buy a pascal card next year meaning I'll want a 4k monitor then. Thanks :)

Yeah definitely. 1440p works fine as its 1.75x 1080p.

I have a 4k monitor, and on some games, run 1440p with max settings to get a solid 60, as 4k at 60fps isn't always achievable.

So 4k for desktop and general use, then either 4k or 1440p for games.

Even 1080p as well if you wish

acer predator 4k2k xb280hk.

I'm more about looks of games than anything else and I don't really play anything competitively so have no need for high refresh rate.

I'm just worried about the FPS I'll be getting on a 780ti.

780Ti you'll be running probably at Medium settings with the latest stuff. 4k needs a minimum of 980Ti imo
