What to replace a 2009 BMW 335i with?

This is very true and interestingly there seem to be quite a few 2015 535i M Sport's around - enough for there to be a choice of colours and options.

No idea why, the older ones are like hens teeth!

If you pick a grey or silver one with wood trim then I'll buy it off you in 3 years time ;)

I guess my issue with this idea is its the N55 engine, which I don't like as much as the N54, so less power potentially in a heavier car BUT a nicer place to be which IS important to me as I'm getting older.

The 5 is a nice jump up in everything I guess but 550i is more appealing as I can't say I've ever seen one on the roads and tuned nobody will expect 500bhp out of one, especially debadged.

It's very well priced IMO - they usually get advertised for stupid money. There are two others, a 62 plate at 30 grand and a beige (yes, really) 2010 SE for only £1k less...

Or in horrendous GT spec. I am not a fan of how that car looks at all, and they're usually SE's too!

I did see one which was an M5 rep for a silly low price around £19k but alarm bells were ringing with that car. It needs AUC Warranty ideally on something like that.

Yeah its the same engine as the S3/Golf R. Anything over 360 on those is brave but very quick. I think my issue is going back to a 4 cylinder after being spoilt by the Twin Turbo 6 I wouldn't enjoy it as much. I really am getting old.

Or I just wait for F80 M3 and tart mine up a bit, pop the downpipes on it etc but then thats RWD too. I'm a confused soul haha

Oh come off it, that thing is junk compared to every other suggestion in this thread :p
The Audi S3 / Golf R meets all of his requirements, and comes in under budget.

The problem in this thread is people suggest cars but the OP comes back with an issue with it. It's either too heavy, no AWD, too expensive, not the correct engine or not über quality.

Admittedly with a stage 2.

Agree entirely. I'm a nightmare tbh. Golf R ticks every box tbh, especially in 5 door. I can't explain why going from 6pot to 4pot bothers me, its an emotive thing I guess.

No :( :D

I really don't have a clue what I want. M3 is special to me, always wanted one.

What about this Merc C450 AMG thing, are they any good? I didn't even know it existed until today

TBH from your OP it sounds like you want something 400bhp that can put the power down better in all weather conditions, and be a bit special.

C450 isn't out here until next year. That could be the one though. 4 Matic and Estate is available, proper AMG and £40k brand new

It isn't proper AMG. It's the Merc equivalent of, say, an M235i (in it's relationship to the performance brand, I appreciate it isnt a 2 Series).
