Hey guys

So i just got a Gigabyte X99 SLI board and it has M.2 compatibility.

I know little to nothing about M.2 but im wondering does it provide any advantage over my Samsung 850 PRO SSD's? Like a large enough improvement to justify it?

Any comment on what the go to option is?

Cheers

Yeah I only got mine as I needed more storage anyway and its a neat solution being mobo mounted. Im sure in time they will surpass SSDs, or will SATA IV be out by then haha.

You'll eat some PCIe lanes using it, so don't do it if you have say, a 5820k with 28 lanes and want to do 3/4 way SLI/Xfire

28 lanes with 3-way SLI/xfire is 8 lanes each, leaving 4 spare, so you can do it.
4-way we can't SLI but can do xfire, 4 lanes each, leaving 12 spare, so it's fine.
