Been admitted to Luton hospital for a few days due to kidney infection but I think the.food will do more harm then good lol.

I would not feed it to.my cats and custard was pretty much lumpy slop.

I was in Bedford hospital for a operation few years ago now and the food was very good it's making my stay here harder knowing Bedford got the good foods lol.

Sorry rant over peace out.

It's the same in every hospital! I think I would be tempted to ask for some of the Asian options in Birmingham. They look a whole lot more appetising that the pie and mash type options that seem to come along. In fairness after a 12 hour shift anything looks appetising!

When Mrs Cheesyboy (or Mrs Cheesyboy-to-be, as she was at that stage) was training at Gloucester Hospital, and staying in the staff accommodation there, we ate at the hospital restaurant a few times. I was quite impressed, having heard the horror stories about hospital food - it wasn't special, but was perfectly nice standard meals. Then Mrs C informed me that the stuff they serve on the wards was a totally different thing, and was complete arse.

Not had to stay in hospital myself, fortunately, so I've not tried it.

Never been in long enough for food, touch wood.

My dad was in a few years back and said the food was really good. Never saw it myself, but he'll eat anything. :p

The cheese sandwich was pretty good but if mess up simple cheese sandwich then something very wrong lol.

I could do with a takeaway now Chinese and chips.

The food at our hospital isn't bad. Some stuff is good, some stuff not so much, depends what you pick. Certain things keep better in a servery/heated cabinets than others.

The breakfasts are good though. Any 6 items (egg, sausage, bacon, lorne, black pudding, tattie scone, hash brown, french toast, tomato, beans) for £2.50. You can have this, but they don't stock non diet soft drinks as they are unhealthy!

There's a Daily Mail article (I'm not linking to it) of reader-submitted photos of hospital food. Some are downright awful, others looked fairly decent.

The one with the dessert served on the same plate as curry is pretty funny.

Only hospital food I can ever remember eating is some toast after having my tonsils out, felt like eating glass. Quite possibly the best toast i've ever had though :p

Suppose it's just like any other public service section, targets to hit, costs to keep down, feed them the slops as it's all we've got left! Well the last time I had to visit hospital was a couple of years ago in Kirkcaldy (Scotland) and I have to agree the food was anything but edible.

Granted I wasn't really in the mood for eating but a cuppa tea went down really well and I'll admit I couldn't wait to escape . . . .

Having said that the service I received from all the medical professionals was nothing short of first class. Our government might very well be trying to cut corners, save money, cut up our NHS and impose impossible targets but these men and women on the front line of the NHS really do a phenomenal job and for that they have my utmost respect and thanks.

The toast is normally rock solid I am sure it be classed as a lethal weapon lol.

The tea trolley is the high light of my day cup of tea always makes you feel better.

Was at the QE in Birmingham for a few days and it was pretty disgusting by most counts. I stuck to sandwiches for lunch :p

Fortunately never had to stay in a hospital in the UK, so no idea what the food was like there. Stayed a few nights in hospitals in Bangkok and Delhi. Was tasty.
