So what's everyone think about the news regarding Sony bringing PS2 games to PS4.

From 8pm tonight they will be releasing the first batch:

Dark Cloud
Grand Theft Auto 3
Grand Theft Auto: Vice City
Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas
Rogue Galaxy
The Mark of Kri
War of the Monsters
Twisted Metal: Black

All games are going to have trophy support and are upscaled to 1080p, if the recent Star Wars games are anything to go by will have better performance than the original release.

Thoughts?

I don't like having to pay for games I already own, and the the others are too expensive.

£15 for a 15 year old game is a bit much.

I never expected them to do disc support, but did hope that the ps2 classics on ps3 carry over or at least some sort of discount if you already owned it. Granted don't know the actual £ pricing yet, but would not be suprirsed either if they are ~£15 :\

Guess late ps2/early ps3 arrogant sony is on the come back.

As above pretty disappointing, although the idea of better performing GTA games is pretty appealing especially if they keep their original soundtracks intact.

Slim hope that PS1 classics are coming too and that they will be compatible with disc / previously purchased.

GTA will sell bucketllads even at that price surely! Very pleased they've gone with Dark Cloud, it's the sort of game you want made HD but never gets it.

I stopped repurchasing the same product on a different format years ago. Sony can go swivel. Actually I contradict myself here; I did buy GTA V for both the PS3 and PS4. Boo me!

Maybe, in fact that is probably what would happen. Also happy with Dark Cloud too, being that it didn't get released on the PS3 store over here (did in US I think?)
I am tempted by it I hate to admit :\ Was one of my first PS2 titles and never got to complete it as someone stole it, do have a soft spot for it. Don't think the dungeons will have aged well at all, actually I think they were a bit naff even back then!

I'd like to play the GTA games agin but in worried about them being good as the 360 SA release had some issues and I'm sure missing songs.

Pricing scheme they had for PS1 games on the PSN Store seemed pretty decent back in the PS3 days. These seem a bit pricey but hey, at least they are available and will no doubt be on sale at some point.

Tempted to get some of the GTA games. I don't like GTA V at all but loved the GTA games listed at the top of this thread. If they are £15 though that is pretty pricey for such an old game. Even Nintendo don't charge that much for their virtual console games (at least I don't think they do its been awhile since I last checked).

San Andreas/Vice City and Twisted Metal for me, although i think these will be stupidly priced. If so they can forget it, nostalgia will tide me over until made cheaper.

And theres me only just buying the GTA trilogy for PS3 last week after bring scared that GTA:SA might be removed due to the imminent release of the inferior mobile port.

Seems little value of such a service considering the pricing - though for me its just more games to buy but never (re)played

ps3ud0
