Some help please! just upgraded to a GTX 260 and im a bit confused my PS (750w) only has 1 pcie 6pin and the GTX 260 needs 2 it comes with a slitter lead (ie two 4pin nito one 6pin so all look ok. But on the setup card that comes with the GTX it said not to use a slitter lead .
I’m confused  is it ok or not or do I need a new PS?

Cheers

Go easy with me i'm old.

Claimed!

The splitter should be fine, they only say dont use them as a lot of older low power PSUs wouldn't provide the power through two 4pin molex connectors.
I've got a 8800gtx (power hungry) card running on two of those adapters and no issues, its purely the manufacturer covering themselves for 'your card blew up my psu'

should have upgraded your psu first, most importat part of a pc in my opinion. Just pray that your psu does't blow up and take the rest of the computer with it.

As said above no point spending everything on the gcard and then use a cheap psu. If something happens, that's all your money down the drain.

Unless its a q-tec - then shouldn't be too much of an issue - shouldn't...

But I'd reccomend either a corsair, OCZ or gigabyte 550-600watt (or higher) to be sure if you are going to be running a nice GPU.

I really don't think it will be that much of a problem - aslong as hes not putting too much strain on it, or it says q-tec in big letters on the side :D

Yep, Winpower are poor, had a 450w which was light as a feather and no ripple circuitry whatsoever. It's just generally bad and you should replace it immediately.
