AMD Fluid Motion "Enable 60fps Movies"

Thank you.

I thought it is something obvious that require no explanation, but apparently not...

It's like for proper testing and comparison between audio quality, nobody would do the comparison using mp3...

Testing was performed on a full 24bit RGB signal. No YCbCr wierdness.

Luckily they used an original fat PS3 which sends an unmolested signal from the framebuffer over HDMI.

That's is not the point...PS3 and Xbox360 games are not even 1080p.

Using those consoles games for comparing image quality for HDMI cable is like doing a PSU lab test comparing different PSUs but without stressing it at full load...

Please either read the article, or be quiet.

The checksum testing was performed using full 1080p imagery, which created identical checksums over all cables.

Seriously if this is how you generally post and your typical attitude toward others while you were posting on whathifi forum in a discussion, I am not surprised at all that they perm-banned you, and it has nothing to do with "damage-control".

I did quick skim through the article, and it just confirm what I already suspected- a flawed method/approach has been use.

At least the WHF editor read the evidence put before him before coming up with increasingly crazy reasons to dismiss it.

A 24bit 1080p RGB signal from a PS3 has exactly the same bandwidth and signal integrity requirements as a 24bit 1080p RGB signal from any other device. Dismissing an article you refuse to read because it doesn't fit an agenda is pure ignorance, and a reason why the likes of Monster are able to pump out £100 HDMI cables to unsuspecting punters.

Excellent, now we are getting somewhere. In what way is the test flawed. Please dont pull the sending a static image 60 times a second is somehow different to sending a animated image @ 60fps manoeuvre.

Edit: Do you also buy expensive HDMI/DVI cables for 1080p PC monitors? Or have you found that cheap Amazon specials are just as good as anything else.

Take it by the reaction it's not available on Nvidia?
I couldn't get the AMD method to work, but I just tried the SVP software suggested by a member in one of the post, and it is quite straight-forward to use, but require 32-bit player and a recently fast CPU (even with the overclocked Q6600 on one of my other PCs the CPU usage was hitting 100% and the video was stuttering, so I had to lower some setting on the conversion to keep the max CPU usage at no higher than around 90% for smooth playback.

SVP should work with any GPU vendor may it be AMD, Nvidia or Intel I think.

So what's the fuss?

If you don't like it don't view movies that way, if you do like it, enjoy, no?

It's an option use it don't use it, simple.:)

Certainly not. Nvidia dont do things for box spec fillers.

Course they do, they certainly filled up the 970 spec.:D

Lets be honest here...If Nvidia had done Fluid Motion then they would all have been singing it's praises....good or not. LOL

I find it amazing how many industry experts we have in this section of the forum and everyone of them an absolute professor in their field ;)....Well done you educated chaps......LOL :D

You want to make sure that the OpenCL acceleration/gpu acceleration is turne on in the SVP manager. Also try make sure your monitor is set to a multiple of 24 for its refresh rate. produces the best results.

I also don't get why people say the interpolated video that was posted looks like a home movie and is therefore worse. if you play the youtube video at 1080p60 it is clearly smoother and better looking. The original looks jumpy and naff.
