Engagement Rings - Online Retailers

You need to understand that a $100 note is fundamentally worthless because it can be printed for a fraction of pence. Doesn't mean it is worthless to possess it, you can liekly sell your $100 note to someone else for, I don't know, $100, which is not bad for a worthless piece of paper. I have a whole ream of paper that is inherently more useful, pure white and much bigger, fits in my printer perfectly, yet somehow that paper is worth far less than a fundamentally worthless $100 note.

I had a great experience with Diamond Geezer online.

Despite the dodgy name, they have an excellent reputation and care about it. The diamond for my fiances ring got stuck in customs, so to ensure I got it on time they upgraded it to a diamond priced £400 more for free and without me asking them to (shows what the margins on these things must be like though - even online).

Properly graded/certified etc and a choice of thousands of diamonds.

I got one from thebeautifulcompany.co.uk. It's a small outfit run from home, rather than a jewellers. But they do have samples you can request.

Mhmm, I think when I eventually propose to someone I am going to try and break from the convention of plain white diamonds and see if I can get some ruby or emerald on the ring too. Almost everyone's engagement ring that I see looks the same to me... no unique character.

Blue Nile is awesome. I bought the engagement ring and the wedding rings from there and they were great. Although I was in Canada at the time of the engagement ring so it was much cheaper.

The engagement ring was too big and they were really good about resizing/replacing it.

Very happy with them and highly recommended them.

I went with a marquise cut as they look bigger than they actually are and they're a bit different to the usual shapes.

The founder was on Dragons Den a decade ago or so. I can't remember if he got an investment, but he's been in the business a long time and knows his stuff. I'd consider buying from them if I was in the market, despite the name not sounding very prestigious.

I had never heard of blue nile but I really like the look of what they do with the ability to choose the diamond and then the setting. I have bookmarked it for future use.

That's all well and good but the name is a little off putting, and for that reason I am out.

77 Diamonds - Brilliant customer service and the prices are significantly cheaper than anything on the high street

Cheers for all the input everyone, looks like I've got some more searching to do.

One issue I've found is that she wants the main stone to be a sapphire, while a lot of these online places focus on just diamonds. Otherwise 77, Blue Nile etc would be perfect.

Although the OP spec has now changed - another vote for 77 diamonds. Bought an eternity ring from them, great service.

To the chap that said H Samuel (if it was serious) don't!!!!
