Windows 10

And you don't have to worry about the risk of malware included with 3rd party activators or pre-activated ISOs.

I bought several copies of Windows 8 Pro when it was released for £15 each, saw me through 8.1 and now on to 10.

On the other side of the coin however, I got so fed up with calling MS about having to reactivate my Windows on my various PCs, that I ended up simply using a naughty copy purely to bypass activation, and I never once came across any iffy malware of any kind on any of my installation ISOs.

On a similar thought, you also get updated ISOs complete with the latest updates etc, and these are sometimes very beneficial to many people.

I mean... my Win 7 and 8.1 PCs are using naughty disks purely because I can install them and the updates are VERY minimal, whereas, if I use the master DVDs, there is over 1GB of updates on each of the 8.1 setups alone... Thats just not funny.

I still have my £15 Win 8 pro!

Couldnt load that on my new pc as couldn't find any drivers for the network card / wireless! Only Win 7 and 8.1 available anywhere! New mobo.

Are there wireless adapters available that will work on win 8 (Not 8.1)

I think you will find, that drivers that work with 7 and 8.1 will in 99.9% of cases, work just fine in 8.0

There are a massicew amount of Vista drivers that work in 7 and 8.x just fine too!

Hell, there are even some that work in 10

Have you actually tried any of the 7 or 8.1 Drivers in 8?

Also unless I am mental, Win 8 will give you a legit path to upgrade to Win 10!
So that is in essence, Windows 10 for only 15 notes!

Thats what i was trying to do but i couldnt get any drivers for the new motherboard for win 8! I needed one specifically for the Ethernet and wireless as the board came with a wireless built in.

I tried searching but i could not find any win 8 drivers for those items. The Driver disc that came with the mobo had drivers on it for Win 7 and Win 8.1 but not win 8!!

So, what i was wondering is if i could use a wireless dongle and use one that has win 8 drivers for it so i could then use that Win 8 to upgrade to 10?

Did you try to install the drivers using an application? Sometimes an application will do an OS version check and fail if it's not on the list. Your could try and run in compatibility mode or extract the drivers and add in Device Manager.

Or if you know who the manufacturer is get the drivers directly from their website, e.g. Intel, Realtek, Maxwell etc. For some of my older laptops I'm using Windows 7 drivers in 10. Worked fine in 8 and 8.1.

Yea i did try some of those things.

I may borrow a USB wireless dongle next time and see if it will work ok in win 8. If it does with the new setup i can then upgrade that setup to 10!

Is the only thing holding back your upgrade a network connection? Can you not complete the upgrade by copying the ISO to USB?

I couldn't activate the Win 8 because I couldn't get drivers for the network card & WiFi card. So, couldn't then upgrade!

Is this your Windows 8 Pro for £15? If so, wasn't that an upgrade from Windows 7 Pro? Just wondering as you should be able to install Windows 10 using the newest setup (from the Media Creation Tool) and activate is using the Windows 7 key. Would save the whole trying to install Windows 8, activate, update to Windows 8.1, then update to Windows 10 palaver.

You don't need to upgrade to Windows 10 from an activated OS. With the November update you can install W10 and enter a W7 or W8 key to activate.

Hopefully the W10 install will have working drivers for your network adapters.

Trust me if you need the ISO.

Edit: As Confused Stu posted above.

Thing is, i cannot get online with the win 8 i have as i cannot get any drivers for the network components with win 8 for my mobo.

I dont have win 7 pro anymore

You're online with something though, just get the media creation tool for windows 10 let it download the files and create a pen drive to install from.

I know you keep saying that it is Windows 8 and not 8.1, but have you actually downloaded the 8.1 drivers from the site, because those drivers DO work in windows 8
Windows 8 and 8.1 drivers are the same drivers.

A setup program may, for some stupid reason, have a list of compatible operating system versions that the drivers are for, and they may have missed out on 8 in the list, but the drivers stil lwork if you force them in manually.

It is just not possible for them not to go in.

Here is a link to the files.

http://www.asrock.com/mb/Intel/H170M-ITXac/?cat=Download&os=Win864

THEY DO WORK.

If they dont, then YOU are doing something wrong. it is NOT a Windows 8 v 8.1 issue at all.

I have downloaded the LAN files and the drivers are in the WIN8 folder. Just use those by getting the device manager to search and that will sort it for you.

The O/S IS compatible.
Ok, well, I had a similar issue with my motherboard and it did the exact same thing as yours is doing.

What you need to do, is force the wrong drivers in, so that it pits somehting into it.

It will kind of know that the drivers are iffy, and then, using the Device Manager, you can then get it to do a search, and it will then hopefully find some drivers that are a closer match and thats when you can do those ones.

This can often work.

But I promise you... Those drivers ARE the right drivers, its just that they need to be forced in by tricking itthe PC into doing just that

Alternatively, Have you tried a driver tool like SamDrivers or similar?
