Steam Winter Sale 2015

Good, it means you have the best deals all of the time rather than having to keep checking every day and then buying your favourite games on the last time if they didn't actually appear in a daily. Much simpler tbh.

More simple, yes; not having to check dailies and flash sales. Better in that you get the best deals from the start to the end? Not really.

Dailies and flash sales brought extra discounts for some games. Take Torchlight 2, for example. It's always 50% off for the entirety of these sales, but was almost certain to pop up on daily or flash sale for 75% off. Not in this sale it won't.

If TL2 will go no more than 50% off, how many other games will we not see further discounts on, that they have been in previous sales?

Do we know for sure that we aren't getting the best deals throughout the entire sale?

Yes. This was on Eurogamer:

Eurogamer can now confirm this, after receiving the notice of this change that Valve sent out to Steam developers and publishers today.

"We'll still be highlighting your top games on the front page for 24-48 hour spans, but those products will stay at their most competitive discount, before and after being featured," Valve wrote.

"It's not a major change, but it does make the sale a lot more valuable for customers, and it allows us to build sale features that recommend your product all sale long, instead of just during its front page feature.

"For a brand new release, if you can't get approval for your best discount for the full length of the sale, that's OK and we can work on a plan for that game. But the vast majority of your catalog should be running its best discount for the duration of the sale."

So there you have it - two upcoming sales, but no need to keep checking Steam for sudden drops in price. But, of course, maybe just the smaller general reductions only as a result?

So Valve say "products will stay at their most competitive discount" and Eurogamer interpret that as "maybe just the smaller general reductions only as a result".

So still nothing concrete.

yes most games on steam sale can be had upto nearly 50 percent cheaper on key sites. steam is becoming just a gaming platform.

they need to adjust.

Excatly, games are cheaper elsewhere all year round.

This, finding deals on the likes of Kinguin far cheaper. I wonder if this increases or drops their total revenue from the sale this year. I vote for the latter, but perhaps with better profitability.

Capitalism Ho.

Well the g/f & I have just bought Dying Light. you lot better be right or you gonna get some fist!

Pretty good game actually, a lot better than the dead island games anyways. I wouldn't say it was a great game but it's a good playthrough. The score on steam is about right 75/100 I certainly wouldn't score it above that imo.

I'm curious...I've never played DayZ, yet I have heard that there was a time when it was in considerably better shape. What went wrong, what did the developer do to cheese people off? Is it still somewhat popular to this day?
