Tony Martin 'held over gun possession'

Give him a medal for telling the truth?

admit to something illegal and call the police stupid... you expect them to give you a medal? LOL

It is hardly surprising he got raided...

if it was some urban council estate dweller bragging about his illegal drugs stash, saying Britain is awash with drugs and the police are halfwits I wonder if the same people would be saying the police are harassing them and they deserve a medal for telling the truth

Just think what that poor young thief could have contributed to society if he hadn't been cruelly killed...oh wait...

Martin should be nowhere near firearms, but he was driven over the edge by constant robberies, by scum who knew the police would do absolutely nothing to stop them.

As a victim of rural crime (robbery) and the daily stories of it happening to others (land owners, builders, farmers, small business owners) I find it hard to criticise Tony Martin. He went a step too far, but the police and courts offer little protection and they deserve criticism.

Because I have no issue with home gun ownership and I think UK gun laws are a joke.

some people might think the same thing about drugs laws

if someone bragged to a journalist about having a stash of illegal drugs and called the police halfwits would you think they ought to be left alone too?

I wouldn't make it top priority to arrest someone for weed, no

I wouldn't make it top priority to arrest someone for having a poxy air rifle, no, especially when he's fearing for his life and the Police are doing sweet fa to protect him.

If I was a bent copper, then yes I'd arrest people for simply calling me a half wit
and make out I'm doing this to protect the public from being mortally injured by a 5gm pellet (ie the term is gypsie -Gilly)

Left alone Mr Martin would no doubt lead a peaceful and meaningful life.

The police go for the low hanging fruit. They should try some proper police work.

No sympathy for someone who gets shot by a farmer who invariably is as hard as nails and has access to guns. Doesn't matter what direction the thief was going at the time, I have no sympathy whatsoever.

My advice is Mr Martin should buy 2 or 3 large dogs and spend a lot of time with them. They will protect him legally and he can get on with his life.

If reports are correct, hopefully he'll do time. Given his history; this is not a minor offence.

Are you happy to disregard his mental health problems that are the direct result of the Police not protecting him?

Seems the Police are happy to lock up anyone who makes them look bad.

New laws would enable the half wits to prosecute him for any the term is gypsie - Gilly that the dogs bite.

I'm fairly certain that rifle used for hunting is many many times more powerful than anything you will be allowed to own in the UK, what is the limit 11ft lbs? Good for squirrels and rabbits.

I also find it strange that it is OK for our 'professional' police force to harass and bully members of the public because they are 'disrespectful'. Too chicken to harass travelers of course, they stick up for each other.
