So, my PC updated itself yesterday and rebooted this morning at 3:30 and now crashes after boot when services start. I thought at first it was just samsung magician causing it because it was in the event log so uninstalled that but it still crashes.

One update kept failing to install and another installed which I removed, a secuirity update for windows but there was updates to apps (I don't use the apps) and then a few of the malicious software removal tools updated but I can't work out where to remove them from?

Has anyone had this happen recently?

Is this the big 1511 update? I had it fail in various different ways over about half the systems I've its installed itself on. Usually a fresh install with the update takes but that is a lot of extra messing about :(

Do I really need to go through a fresh install? How do I reverse all of the patches installed, IE the malicious software etc as not all show in add/remove programs (show updates)

Same here
Should have known better than to install W10
Tried before on a netbook...ran like a whipped dog :(
This time on a pc,all specs ok
NO network adapter working on my hp n54l :(
Thought hey ho W10 pile of ****,will roll back to W7.....STILL no working network:mad::mad::mad:
Gonna have to reinstall from scratch
and people cry the praises of W10:confused::confused::confused:

System restore could be any option, or even a system refresh which will keep your files in-tact, but restore the Windows operating system. I have used it before, and it worked really well.

I did a Fresh install as the upgrade messed a few things up. While it's running mostly fine, there are some annoying things I don't like. I also dislike the privacy issues which I had to use DWS to get around.

I'm still debating going back to Windows 7 in all honesty, this is two weeks after my fresh install.

Also, what the hell is with not being able to access FTP sites within windows explorer? I've tried everything including the IE option that's meant to allow it, plus some registry tweaks. Have to use an FTP client now :(

So I spoke too soon. It seems that the problem is very confusing and a little different to I first thought...

If it has been powered off say overnight, I can boot it up and it is fine. I've been on and working for 1 hour 10 now. Yesterday I was fine from 10am until 14:30 when I had left it idle for about an hour. I came back, powered it off by the button as it had frozen then every time it turned on it would freeze a few minutes after boot. I can go into safe mode and it is fine for as long as I need it to be but as soon as I reboot into standard mode it crashes again.

Any idea what is going on or how I get around this? I was thinking of a 'refresh' install but not sure if it is worth doing that yet or there is another way around it.

Had a similar issue on two identical desktops. Perpetual loop trying to repair. In the end a clean install was the only solution. BTW I also noticed that restore points were turned off by default so no help there recovering anything. Luckily I keep all data on a separate drive.

Thankfully my data is on a separate drive, but it is annoying that this has happened after minimal use on a fresh install. I wonder if I should keep Win 10 or go back to an older OS...

Any other ideas, over a clean install before I bite the bullet? It works perfectly fine in safe mode. Or for a while if it has been powered off for some time. Could it be that it no longer likes my overclock?

I definite think it is an issue with W10 and one of the updates. Despite the hassle I would stick with it. I find it fast and easy to use now. Then there is DX12 to consider in the future and they will I think be charging for W10 sooner rather than later. May add well get used to the future now :)

As for ways around the fix, have a good read around but I decided it was quicker to do a fresh install than mess around. Your mileage may vary.

I do like the OS, but then again I have used it more trying to fix and get it working than I have actually making use of it. The upgrade was shambles! This failure has been a ballache and what's to say it won't happen again, since I am on a fresh install?

There are no guarantees but I've been fine on two PCs. My parents PC has been fine with all the updates. I suspect a driver issue. In the scheme of things it's not that much trouble :)

My question is - did Microsoft update the ISO on its website to this new build? I would like to update my USB pen drive with the new installation if this is the case.

I keep getting the Windows 10 update on my pc even though. I think the free upgrade is nearly over with it still wants to update i keep pressing no thanks after every bloody reboot i keep getting it. Drives me crazy. I paid nearly a grand for me HTPC and no way i want windows 10 thats one of the reasons i got it built cause i wanted windows 7 not windows 8 or 10 LOLOL

^^ I've pretty much stopped doing Windows update on 7 (silly MS) due to the way they keep trying to creep the notification into "critical" updates :S
