Stones and pounds - trying to weigh my fat body

I think I'm going mad.

I bought some new digital scales because I'm trying to get less fat and I wanted to see if I was actually losing weight. It has multiple settings for stone, pounds and kg.

I weighed myself with the stone setting and it read 14 stone 11 lbs.
I weighed myself straight after with the pounds setting and it told me 207 lbs.

Now this seems right to me. 14 x 14 + 11 = 207.

But when I put 207lbs in stone into Google it tells me it is 14.78 stone.

What is going on? Is Google wrong?

Does the button on the scales not cycle through the three scales while showing the weight .

I can switch from KG/P to P and KG while the display shows the weight before it times out.

I haven't tried that.

It's pretty fancy though, tells me my BMI, body fat % and body water %. Only cost £10 too!

I am awful at maths.

I cried during a 3x table test in primary school. The only one I could ever do was the 5x (easy), 9x (used the finger trick), and 10x (easy) table.

I'm better now though, kind of.

Body fat readers on scales are not a reliable way to measure body fat % at all.

It can be useful just as a reference point to measure yourself against as time goes by, just don't go comparing that measurements with anything else

Fair enough, I did wonder how in the hell it was working it out.

Resistance iirc. The current flows faster through water and muscle than fat and bone so depending on the resistance it receives it estimates body fat percentage.

Although seeing as it measures fat and water as a whole I'm unsure if hydration effects the reading.

Either way don't trust it just use it as a metric for loss rather than correct figures.

OP provides! We all have those moments.. Usually realise before creating a post! Especially on GD! :D

I think it is charge that flows faster? Current just increases or decreases

Not being a pedant, I was just thinking about what it meant
