Hello :D

So finally after being very patient and telling myself to wait until after Christmas, the time has come to order myself a new rig! My current system is chugging out COD black ops 3 on low and the tech in it is about 5-6 years old.

I'm running 2 monitors that shouldn't need replacing and a really nice Sennheiser headset that I'd like to get the most out of with a powerful sound card.

I suppose I would prefer one of the pre-built systems this time around instead of going through the whole rigmarole myself.

I don't have any real budget as such, but I'd like to think I could buy nice gaming PC for £2k or less?

Always appreciate your input and feedback.

Can't comment on the rest, but what are the headphones?

Onboard sound is pretty decent these days, but a good headphone amp may be useful depending on your headphones.

I would suggest using the PC Configurator if you don't want to build it yourself.

I quickly put this together.

Price: £1,839.82

That is too much money and is not justified being spent on an i5, you should be looking at i7 6700k or an X99 set up for that price.

Only if considering SLI in the future (in the case of Haswell E).

An i5 is still the best bang/buck in games right now

Hi

You can get ocuk to build you a system to your own spec. Are you after any particular colour scheme ?

Also what resolution are you gaming at ?

I didn't include a soundcard as onboard is pretty good these days. You can always add one later though if you feel the need.

Just noticed that the XFX Black Edition 1050W is priced pretty well at the moment. It is a good quality Seasonic made unit.

I would probably say this is your best option right now, in terms of looks and overall performance, and by the looks of it your going to keep it for a while, and CPU's with more cores are almost certainly going to destroy lesser core'd chips next year due to DX12 taking more advantage of the more powerful CPU's

You're wasting so much money on that prebuilt rig. I'd go with one of lee32uk's build suggestions. Either of the last 2 on i7-5820K or i7-6700K.

Okay so between Sparx's comment and my friend offering his building expertise...I guess ill just order lee's 3rd option + a nice sound card :D

Could somebody just confirm

Gfx

will fit into the case recommended?

Thank you folks!

Can somebody just check this list over before I hit order? :D

I just wanted to check the gfx card isnt too big and ends up clashing with the sound card etc

Thanks so much :D

It should do.

I have that card and I have the NZXT Noctis 450 which is the same size as the H440.

You can always go on the NZXT website and it'll list the dimensions, then see what size card it can take.

Aswell as the SSD, would you not prefer a water cooler? I have one of these on my 5820k, https://www.overclockers.co.uk/ocuk...id-cooling-upgrade-bundle-bu-096-tl.html#t=b1
Absolutely awesome, see the OC i have in my sig, that is all in really nice temps.. I could go a lot a couple of .1Ghz higher as I have the temp space to do so, but I like it quieter :p
Also when getting the above cooler, you dont get fans (you can get OCUK's fans for £2 more with the 240mm+ version, but if i was to recommend anything, get quieter fans, everyone says noctua, but they are ugly asf...
Grab some that fit the build colour wise and are 120mm such as these: https://www.overclockers.co.uk/phanteks-ph-f120s-120mm-fan-black-white-fg-004-pt.html
Grab 2 of them, the watercooler above, and the 750gb SSD, and you are ready to rock with an insane system...

Also, dont forget you can take advantage of OCUK's free shipping if you make an OC account and put in your forum account details ;)

The Black/White MSI Armor GTX 980 ti would fit the colour scheme a bit better than the standard Black/Red card.

If you would prefer a Red/Black build then a few things can be swapped around.

You don't need thermal paste. The cooler comes with it's own.

Again the White Crucial Ram would be a better fit than the Grey.

If you want a better cpu cooler, then the Corsair H105 or NZXT X61 will both fit.

Would the extra 250gb be beneficial? For the sake of £25, I would 100% get that one..
Also, the GPU will fit, with about 1cm to spare before the drive cages... When you get it, look at different ways you can go about removing a drive cage, it wont matter, just when you come to take the GPU out at some point could be a hassle, also, better airflow with fans in the front!

The Samsung 840 EVO had degradation issues that have not been fully fixed. I would stick with the 850 EVO.
