AMD announces Radeon R9 Nano price cut

Grabbed a second one for £375 fom OCUK, was the HIS model after selling my first one for a minor loss. Pretty great card and the price I paid for this second one was fairly reasonable.

Surprisingly this second card over clocks fairly nicely on the stock cooler, around 1085 Mhz while under water goes even higher to around the 1115 Mhz mark on the core (1125 stable can be reached but only in few applications and synthetic benchmarks).

In terms of performance, pretty much edged out my Fury (maxed out also) I had for abit clocked to similar levels by about 5-10% across the board.

I haven't looked at the 980 price for a while, and just looked and found that they are now £420+ on average...what on earth happened to the (UK) price? Thought they were around £380...

They shot up a couple of weeks before black Friday. OCUK even had the 8pack one on offer for £350 and I wish I jumped on it back then. :(

Im not surprised, the faster 970 ITX is only about £255 :p
If you make sarcastic joke about the 970 I agree.

If not, 970 Faster than Nano? Only 980Ti beats it from the NV producs, and Fury X from AMD.
Is a Fury X with 195 TDP in small pcb. Most of them overclock to Fury levels while aircooled. (1070/520 to 1075/550)

Also consumes much less power than the damn 980 & 980Ti LOL.....

-----------------------------

I got one last week. £409 the price is bargain (but annoyed this week is £389 boooooo) considering that the Fury X is £100 more and 980Tis much more.
And I will let anyone know next week how it operates with the EK Nano prefilled block plus back plate, on the EK Predator 360. :D (I need to order the latter from OCUK tonight)

In true AMD fashion, too little too late.

They could have launched as the go-to card at this price point, but instead they chose to be stubborn and everyone went 980Ti instead.

I find it insane how small the market for Fury is tbh! AMDMatt couldn't even sell his FuryX's in the MM for anything approaching decent money!!

To say nVidia have cleaned up in this segment is a massive understatement...

Is there a way to stop nano's throttling so it stays at Fury X performance?

Up power limit to Afterburner to +50%

With the stock cooler on, I normally ramp up the fan profile when I gamed on it to about 60% which is still fairly quiet on the Nano and could stay clocked at Fury X level no issues.

Under water performs even better.

And in true AMD fashion, by the time (if) the Fury cards performance being shown to be quite a bit faster than 980Ti in dx12 titles, it wouldn't matter because it was Nvidia got the most money out of that segment market; despite having a card that age much better, it wouldn't be helping AMD as a business :p

That's what happen when the company overly focus their products for the long-term and not enough focus on much require competitiveness of the present.
