So you're round a mates BBQ or house party and he's stocked up on all the usual suspects of brand lager. Your hand is forced. Which brand would you go for?

Personally mines Budweiser. I actually quite like it as a lighter larger (taste, not ABV) and it certainly has more flavour than the other **** waters.

If it counts Staropramen is my go to lager at the moment. £1.40 for a 660ml bottle and my local Tesco have it in the chiller. Although owned by the Carlsberg group it is still brewed in the Czech Rebublic and it's 5%, so hasn't been watered down to take advantage of the lower duty rates for weaker beers.

If I was going cheaper I'd have a Kronnenberg 1664, it's ok. But it's not as good as it used to be and it certainly isn't as good as the proper 1664 sold in France.

Walk up the shop and get something else.

Seriously though, I think Heineken isn't a bad lager. Not many people drink it however.

used to have labbatts bleu when in canada - just cheap **** like bud/miller etc!
now i tend to only drink beer i actually like - innis and gunn lager in tins is my current go to

ASDA are doing 500 mL bottles of Bavaria Dutch Lager (go figure), for 88p a pop at the moment. At least they are here. Superior to lagers twice the price!

To be honest, I'm not even a bit fussy when it comes to lager. I'd just shrug and drink whatever's cold.

At home, I've taken to drinking those little french stubbies. Mostly 'cos they're a good size (33cl) for just a small drink in the evening.

Across the pond I can normally get a Sam Adams which drinkable, occasionally only Heineken. For some reason people soe times only put out light beer:(, I switch to wine then

Took a four pack of Grolsch to a fairly fancy BBQ (best of a very bad selection in the shop) and it was me that ended up drinking it. The host said to me "do you want me to get one of YOUR beers" when I'd finished my current one - clearly he didn't want any left over. Cheeky geeza, innit! It's not as if they were individually priced!!!

I was talking to a friend about Heineken the other day - I just don't see it anywhere.

Drinks I definitely won't have are Becks or Carlsberg - gnats pee.

peroni, becks, stella or carlsburg export at a push. Wouldn't touch carling or fosters.

I'd be taking my own beer though.

Oddly I really really like Fosters. In many a pub it would actually be my drink of choice.

Anything like carling or Carlsberg though I don't like. Carlsberg Export though isn't too bad.

Some of my friends call me a bit of a beer snob, love my IPA's especially with american hops.

However, I also have a dirty secret, I have a soft spot for Fosters! I have no excuse apart from you like what you like!

Bbq beers have gotta be them cheap stubbies. Biere de luxe. Cheap and 4.8 percent. My definite favourite.

If he didn't have any cider he wouldn't be a friend of mine.

Can't drink lager anymore, much to gassy. Much prefer a flat scrumpy.

There's always some sod who brings terrible own brand cans to the party, then drinks the expensive bottles someone else has brought.

I really don't have a taste for rubbish lager these days though. Too gassy, and tastes bad. I'd bring my own, something like Peroni, TsingTao (which I only tried recently, and is very nice) which just seems to be less prone to inflating you. And then I'd tut loudly and bitch behind the back of the aforementioned people nicking it.
