Giving your children an 'unusual' name

why not confuse everyone and give your boy a name that can also be given to a girl...like Lindsay or Hilary :) There's surprisingly lots to chose from.

Alternatively just pick a name you like but spell it 'differently' like some people seem to be doing... think Chester being spelt Chesta (please don't do this one lol)

LesLee ?

know someone who is one of 6 brothers and they all have boy/girl names

think his mum maybe wanted a girl...:p

Agree with whoever mentioned strange spellings - I know someone who added a 'z' into Alexander for her boy, and finds it a right PITA having to spell it out every time because no-one expects such a crap spelling.

Totally agree, why curse your child with a name that they have to spell out to everybody.

What really buggs me is people who name the child then shorten it straight away, if your going to shorten, why didnt you call them that in the 1st place. Robbie Williams springs to mind he called his daugther Therodra and calls her Teddy..... Why??? There is a good rant from Dido about her parents and her original birth names.

Normal 1st bizarre 2nd 3rd etc.

My wife & I always liked the name Thomas, I liked Harry as a middle but it didnt go to well with our surname so we added Edward. We call him THE in texts!

I saw something recently where a man suggested the name Lanesra for his daughter and his wife thought it was beautiful and agreed to it.

Turned out he had suggested a name that was the name of his favourite team spelt backwards!

Mans got taste ;)

I was introduced to a woman recently called 'Mursaydeez' and no, she wasn't a stripper, escort or whore!

There is a difference between an unusual name and frankly ridiculous one :S choosing a name with an easy shortened version or nickname can help as well.
