As per title, can you fold a pocket mattress in half length ways? I could really do with a new mattress but would have to fold it in half to get it up the ladder and through the loft hatch.

I got my current one up without too much bother but it was only a cheapo double that came with the bed, I fancy a decent pocket sprung job but don't want to wreck it trying to get it in.

Anyone know much about them?

mabve memory foam could be the way to go for you then. I have seen some memory foam mattresses come rolled up. Quite small. You just take it out of the packaging where you want it and let the air get to it and make it come alive.

Trouble with a decent pocket sprung is there is a lot of metal work in there so folding it certainly presents a challenge, it seems to me that your bedroom location my not be suitable for a pocket sprung mattress. Not sure I'd want to be sleeping the other side of my loft hatch lol

The loft is fully converted, it's just that the hatch isn't big enough to easily get a mattress through!

I emailed Silent Night about their mattresses and they do specific rolled up pocket sprung jobs, tempted to try one TBH as I thought the only rolled mattresses were foam stuff.

I'm pretty sure all of the smaller IKEA mattresses are rolled, as well. Even the pocket strung ones.
