AMD Pure Hair comes at a very low performance hit - Great stuff

bleh this looks like a shiety port, 40ish fps and almost 4Go at 1080p, i though that was 4k...

Where does this belief comes even that all new games on pc should run very fast on 1080p at max details. We're nowhere near capping image quality at 1080p with current, and I believe even with next generation of gpu's. Take a blueray movie at 1080p, and you see that we're still far away from reallike graphics, where the real cap is. Game really looks wonderfull even at 1080p.

The PC version from what I have seen does not look much better than the xbone version. On top end PC's the feeling is it should run faster.

Good stuff, I like to see AMD showing Nvidia how it's done :D Still, I believe there's some Nvidia tech in there that can be used too (gameworks stuff) so I'll try it on my 980m and hopefully it'll not lose too much performance. I'd like to run this quite tidy.

Might seem an odd question for some but does it have controller support? I'd rather play a game like this with a controller.

Yer it does. I am on KB and Mouse but have used my 360 pad.

Those textures look pretty horrible. Don't get how this can only get 44fps on a GTX 970 (== another unoptimized console port).

It's very well optimised, just like the Witcher 3; without the crippling hair effects.
The 2013 Tomb Raider which is now heralded as a great game for optimisation and multi-gpu scaling ran much much worse maxed out at 1080p

There the top of the line Flagships are doing what your high-midrange card ais doing now. Also if you're running maxed out it means you have even more advanced tech to render than the consoles: HBAO+, x16 AF, FXAA, SMAA, SSAA, Soft Shadows, and more.

At anything above 1080p, even the top dogs, and Dual GPU cards simply keeled over the died in 2013 Tomb Raider.

By comparison Rise is doing fantastically and looks breathtaking in parts.

Just double the lightsources for pc version, and you have a lot heavier game, which still almost looks the same. Some effects still come with very heavy performance hit.

Digital Foundry had good video about XB vs PC performance when both ran on XB detail levels.

Starting at 2:50

You'll need a quad-core processor and a GTX 960 to beat the Xbox One experience, and GTX 970 to hit 1080p60.

Edit:

Here is actually very good video with differences between XB and PC versions.

I have to admit that most of the differences you really have to look for to notice difference. They are there, but you don't notice them unless you know what to look.

i wonder if there will be many patches to help with performance
i dont think i want to play this until i upgrade lol

Ok I finally got round to giving this an albeit quick whirl and to be perfectly honest its running really great....to my surprise..what with reading all the doom and gloom on the forums. I havent looked at any framerates yet but I wanted to just get a look at the game and how it plays before looking at framerates, as I feel that sometimes that little number in the corner sometimes colours a persons judgement of how a game actually plays. What is everyone using to get framerates Fraps? or something else? I just want to be consistent with what others are using. Oh and I slammed everything up to max apart from sticking with FXAA. Shame theres no actual benchmark utility in there yet but there you go. I'm in work in about an hour but will try and post my results sometime tomorrow for info. I am guessing that Kaap has put settings into the thread for benching, so will follow those. I have really been pleasantly surprised with it so far...mind you I am only just over the first "Snow" level so maybe it gets worse later....I hope not.
:)
