Well the most expensive laptop I've ever bought and one I thought would last year's is lying in pieces.
Had it in me hands was going to lie down in bed, got to the top of the stairs and some how dropped it.
Like In slow motion it bounced off every step.
Screen gone. Chassis knackered. Back plate off.
Little pieces everywhere.

It's a GT 60 2pc. Had it about 18 months now. Think my contents insurance may cover it as it says upto £7500 for any individual item. But ill find out tomorrow.
I'm so ooo mad right now.

Ok. It lives.
Just plugged it into the tele and it boots up and loads windows. No strange noises. No crashes.
But the Chassis is completely knackerd. Bent and cracked same with screen.
Any chance msi would be able to repair it?

Edit. I'll get pics up now.

I'd still be looking around on the inside just in case something came loose like a screw or a heatsink which could cause even more damage by powering on the laptop.

Also, pictures of the devastation are required.

In terms of repair, I doubt MSI would do it for anything approaching a reasonable cost. You could try speaking to some of the modellers around these parts who might be able to give you some guidance on covering up some of the more aesthetically displeasing dings and dents. You might be able to get a replacement screen from a doner laptop on ebay.

I'm trying to load the images through my android phone but if won t let me paste more than one image.
Starting to get stressed.

Why would they not cover it, it's worth no-where near £7500. Don't try and get it fixed, just get it replaced

Pretty impressive that the motherboard held together! Now get to the insurance people and sell this one as slightly used on eBay.

I'm amazed the harddrive even survived. Grab your data while you can.

To be honest, I was expecting the laptop to be in a worse state - it's come out from that trip pretty well.

OP, who is your insurance provider? I'm with Nationwide and managed to claim on a water-damaged AIO PC last year. They will want to take the old kit away from you though and see if it's viable for a repair. In my case, it wasn't economically viable, so got given a voucher with an amount that was for a marginally higher spec AIO PC. However, I could use the voucher on any type of PC, so I went for a laptop instead. The insurer's turn-around was 2 or 3 weeks.

Stair drop is more common than you would think, I used to inspect the damaged laptops for insurance company's and even did some testing of the sort of damage dropping a laptop down the stairs I'll cause.

One customer stands out every time I hear of a laptop been dropped down the stairs.

It's was a 17" medium spec laptop and the letter the customer provided went something along the lines of..

Dear Sir/Madam,

Please find enclosed my damaged laptop, it was damaged due to me tripping over my dog at the top of the stairs, the laptop fell out of my hand bounced down the stairs and landed at the bottom, also because I also pushed my dog down the stairs he fell all the way and landed on top of it. As you can see the laptop is completely ruined and the dog is dead.

I remember that the plastics even had clumps of dog hair cut in it, I still repaired it though, just fell in being economical.
