reliable? or a hunk of junk?

I owned one for two years. Mine was amazing! No problems other than a couple of snapped drop links but that was due to the custom suspension set up.
Mine was a 155 veloce remapped by alfa themselves. Was pretty quick, handled very well and I thought looked good inside and out.

Ugly and crap.

And I saw one sitting in a dealership one Sunday evening recently, flashing one of its headlights at me intermittently as I was waiting at some traffic lights.

Italian electrics.

I'd recon the DS3 is probably a better bet.
Apparently the 1.6 thp dsport is the muts and although quick is reasonably ok on petrol and pretty comfy.
Also noticed the Pug 208 also comes with that engine and seems alright.

208 is a great little car to drive, used to get them as courtesy cars. Nasty small diesels but the small petrols were a hoot, especially with the tiny arcade style steering wheel

Quite a bit of throw in the gears and a light clutch but other than that they're hot overly terrible apart from badly designed seating position (208)

Had one for the last 5 and a bit years. Just coming up to 46500miles. Its the 1.4MA, dual clutch gearbox. Gearbox is great in auto, changes can hardly be felt, put it in manual and dynamic if you want to play. Has it been the often quoted un-reliable heap of italian junk as most think? Nope, the Multiair failed but fixed under warranty.
Consumables wise, front Dunlop lasted 11000 miles. Running Toyo Proxies on the front now and they're great even in winter.
Wouldn't mind the new QV MiTo as it now comes with the TCT gearbox. Don't think its same as the Guilietta(sp) QV which had the 4C engine and gearbox.
