Will this work all good together or is there a better option ?? here is what i need from the system.

1. I plan to overclock the cpu as much as possible. ( what sort of speed could i expect. )
2. Plan to add and M.2 SSD. ( and want the full speed )
3. Do not plan to run Sli.
( will my current Cooler work ok with it ,,its a Corsair H50 currently mounted on my 2500k) ( also if it works will the current fittings do it as i dont have the box or anything extra that might be needed to fix it to the X99 )

My basket at Overclockers UK:

Total: £695.43
(includes shipping: £10.50)

The SOC Champoion is the best X99 board for overclocking.

It does not have a proper 32GB/sec m.2 slot, so you wont get full speed, its 20GB/sec i believe.

If your H50 has socket 2011 fittings (same as 2011-3) then you can use it.

As an H50 is not a very big cooler (i.e the radiator is small) I reckon you will reach its cooling limit way before the board or CPU.

Because you could be held back by the cooler first, you can get a bundle - https://www.overclockers.co.uk/giga...rboard-bundle-30-pounds-saving-bu-020-gi.html - but again the m.2 is not full speed.

But the board in that bundle has a successor - https://www.overclockers.co.uk/giga...cket-2011-ddr4-atx-motherboard-mb-542-gi.html - which does have a full speed m.2 slot and USB3.1.

What cooler would you recommend Stulid.

That sounds like a better option for the extra few £££ ,, i take it its a decent board for overclocking and also the ram is compatable ??

Thanks

RAM is compatible, the board has an OC socket so you can mess around with the uncore aswell as the core speed.

this is a very good option if it will fit your case .

My basket at Overclockers UK:

Mehhh just checked inside the case and nah that aint gonna fit,, the h50 only just fits,, unless i modded the case and mounted it to the ceiling ,, even then im sure it would be touching the motherboard , my case is a coolermaster nut am unable to see the model and its pretty old usb 2 header etc. i guess i would just have to live with the current case / h50 till i get more money for a larger case.

When downgrading to the 16 gb would i be best to go for 4 x 4 GB sticks or 2 x 8 GB sticks

or

or does it make no difference to performance / overclocking.

Re the tower if i do change it then i think i would go for this one due to the usb ports on the top.

They fixed that on the board that comes with the bundle a few BIOSes ago.

The one with "P" in its name is an evloution I would have thought of that board and carries the same fixes.

well if that's the case then i might as well save the money and go for the X99P as it should provide me with a decent overclock when combined with the Kuhler , plus give me full bandwidth when i upgrade to an M.2 SSD , im not to bothered about SLI in the future.
plus from what ive seen on the OC Forums the Gigabyte RMA service is great should i ever need to use it.
