Checked two different website checking services and both say the opposite to each other.

Would someone kindly check if kodi.tv is down for them?

DDoS, they're cracking down on the piracy related Youtube/ebay/amazon links to clean up their image.

They are aiming towards a product similar to Plex and need to shake off the bad image that many 3rd party addons give them.

Some people have taken a disliking to this and are DDoSing them as a result.

Why do people rely on those streaming kodi addons anyway? I've tried some of the so called best ones and they are terribly unreliable. (obviously we cant discuss them here)

Also makes looking for a second hand cheap fire tv (for example) box on ebay near impossible as the market is flooded with these over inflated priced boxes just because they have kodi installed and some poor free addon.

For me it's the sports when they not on sky or BT sports and TV series that are on going in America before UK.

Yes, because Plex is used exclusively for legal stuff by everyone...

Kodi is the Pirate Bay of the media streaming world. It's become the target scapegoat while others skate on by unknown.

Amazon even put Plex on the box of the Fire TV, while banning Kodi from the Amazon App Store because they say it promotes piracy .

Except it's not a media streaming service and comes with no inbuilt option to pirate anything, to do so you'd need to choose to install 3rd party addons or download/rip questionable content . You're blaming software for the way people use it, that's almost unbelievably naive - you may as well blame the OS provider by the same logic.

I think you've missed my point, as I wasn't very clear.

I meant that Kodi has become "the Pirate Bay" in that its the one thing that everyone knows and everyone targets to try and block, when actually its just one of many and is being unfairly singled out because its easier to just throw everything at 1 piece of software than try and tackle a much wider issue.

Kodi and Plex do the same thing (broadly). They stream local media. You can add stuff to both to do naughty things if you wish. However, Kodi has been singled out as the bad child and is being targeted and punished, while Plex is sailing on buy, and even getting put on the box for the FireTV.

Based on that, I can see why Kodi would want to make efforts to try and make its image look cleaner, as its losing out by being blocked from a number of App stores because of its (unfairly assigned) image.
