MWC 2016

If I could plug in a battery pack and charge my phone in 15 mins. It would severely reduce my insistence on 3000mah battery for 1080p

Mi 4s announced

http://www.gsmarena.com/xiaomi_announces_mi_4s_in_china-news-16866.php

The Mi 4s seems somewhat like the successor to last year's Mi 4i, with its slim design and impressive but not too impressive spec sheet. It looks like it will slot somewhere between the existing Mi 4 and the upcoming Mi 5.

The Mi 4s has a glass panel on the front and back, sandwiching the metal frame in the middle. On the front is a 5-inch 1920x1080 resolution display, which keeps the dimensions to a reasonable 139.26 x 70.76 x 7.8mm and the phone weighs just 133g.

Inside, there is a new Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 chipset with 3GB of RAM and 64GB of storage space. On the back is a 13 megapixel camera with PDAF and two-tone LED flash. There's also a fingerprint sensor.

Connectivity-wise, the phone supports 4G+ with VoLTE and USB Type-C. The phone runs on MIUI 7 on top of Android. It is powered by a 3260mAh battery with Qualcomm Quick Charge 2.0 support.

The 64GB model is priced at 1699 Chinese Yuan ($260). It will be available in black, white, gold, and pink.

Now where's the Mi 5 launch damn it?!! Start already!

What are Sony playing at? To drop the Z series and replace it with the new X line is all well and good. However not to release their flagship X Performance in the UK and Germany does not make business sense. Surely there would be demand in both countries for the X Performance as many have bought the Z for years.

It baffles me I have no idea what Sony are up to. I was hoping that they would make the Z6 announcement at IFA 2016 but after seeing the Facebook posts this seems highly unlikely.

With a business strategy like Sony they're never going to be top of the OEM tree and will falter.

Aside from Samsung and LG there haven't been any decent offerings from other manufacturers and it's alarming that consumers literally have to choose between a Samsung or LG device which neither suit my needs.

Very impressed with the Mi 5!

Hopefully 'coming soon' for other markets isn't ages away and the price is decent for UK market if they bring it in through official channel.

Mi 5 does look good. likewise the mi4s looks good and very cheap too.

nothing about expandable storage mentioned on either though.

The Mi5 if it comes to the UK will disrupt the market here. Xiaomi phones are very good and I have imported the Mi4C which was a very good phone.

However being primarily made to use in China the ROM had a fair bit of Chinese bloat and Google services needed to be installed which was a little bit of faffing around. The Mi5 is a superb devices showcase Xiaomi's talents in other parts of the world and I'm hoping it will make it across to the UK otherwise I'll be importing it.

Going back to Sony here's my theory America didn't get a Z5 release until recently and it was a gimped device. Here in the UK and Europe we had the Z3+ then the Z5. The X Performance is somewhat close to the Z line devices. If they released the X Performance here then it would cannibalise sales of the Z5 and Sony would end up diluting the market.

Talks of the Z line being stopped are premature and with each branch of Sony contradicting each other no one really knows what the plan is exactly. Until we actually get official word from Sony that the Z line is dead then it's just speculation. Come September I reckon the Z6 will be announced and it will be their flagship device for 2016.

why are they not releasing the sony xperformance here??

really like the look of it and my z3 has been flawless

I really need a waterproof phone!!
