this is a bit nuts - the story being told is essentially Kesha was allegedly raped by her producer and evil Sony won't let her out of her contract and now an evil judge has put commercial considerations ahead of a rape victim being 'forced' to work with her abuser....

Taylor Swift has donated $250k to help poor Kesha, Adel has voiced support for her at the Brit awards, other lesser celebs have lent their voices too and legions of so called 'SJWs'

How can a rape victim be forced to work with her abuser like this?

But wait - it turns out she's not forced to, Sony has recognised the issue and stated she can work with a different producer. As for the rape - unfortunately that is a bit of a he said/she said... though, under oath (back in 2011), she has stated that he didn't rape her. Now she's claiming he did - so she previously committed perjury when questioned about the alleged incident before and now wants a court to accept her story because this time she is really telling the truth?

The whole thing seems like a bit of a sham - she's contracted to make six albums, she's made two so far - Sony & 'DrLuke' have invested time and money in her, she was already in negotiations with 'DrLuke' allegedly and threatened this case... and now she's carried it out and sued him, attempted and failed to get a preliminary injunction to break her contract which the judge noted was heavily negotiated (as opposed to the stereotype of a naive young singer signing something they don't understand).

Given her previous statement under oath and her apparent contradiction now I'm not sure how great this case is - the skeptic in me thinks she knows she won't win the case and is playing for publicity here in the hope that the negative PR surrounding this (because, well, rape is a hot topic these days) will cause Sony to renegotiate and/or reach a settlement with her.

Interestingly her Lawyer is hardly a women's rights advocate he represented Chris Brown after he beat the **** out of Rihanna... and on twitter he made a false rape allegation that 'DrLuke' raped Lady Gaga... subsequently deleting the tweet after Gaga denied this. Doesn't sound like a very ethical guy...

I'm not sure 'white men' are in power at all in scenarios like this - it seems that any woman can make a rape allegation with absolutely no evidence to back it up and any form of dissent or opposing views will be met with cries of 'victim blaming'... the assumption being by default that the alleged rapist is guilty.

I don't give much of a **** about the specific case here - it is more the reaction to it and how it is being played out in the media and online that is rather interesting

LOL "Celebrities"...

There'll never be a real truth about this, just what the media push, and what some internet folks Tweet about...
In all seriousness, why should anyone care about this?

I really don't know enough about what happened between the 2 of them but assuming she isn't lying (and why would she) she obviously feels that what happened wasn't consensual and breached the trust of their relationship. Surely it's understandable given that's her viewpoint that she doesn't want to work with him, or a company she sees as protecting him.

Surely forcing someone who feels like that to remain in a contract is unfeeling, and possibly a little silly. I mean she's hardly likely to be terribly invested in being a productive as possible for the duration of the remainder of her contract.

So then why when under oath did she say it was?

Agree with dowie, the reaction is the worrying thing - this notion that the victim should always and automatically be believed in cases like this is growing and pernicious. These people need to stop and think before applying some common sense.

You've just contradicted yourself. In your first post you say it wasn't consensual now you're saying it was?

I misunderstood. I thought you were asking why she would say it was unconsensual.

I've no idea why she would say so under oath. I'm not the person in question after all. It would hardly be the first time someone has said something on oath that they don't hold to be true in their heart though.

Shouldn't he fall foul of some law for making false allegations of rape?

point is - with no evidence aside from her word against his she's already completely discredited herself... she's either made it up this time or she's committed perjury previously but now wants us to believe her because this time her account (which has some significant financial incentives attached) is genuinely true, please believe me this time when I testified under oath I was actually telling lies but I want to be believed this time because this time I am telling the truth, honest I'll swear to it...

Ibut assuming she isn't lying (and why would she).

... because she regrets signing a 6 album deal now that she thinks she's worth more after 2 albums, couldn't get out of it and so has played this card to try and force the record company into releasing her. Fairly obvious reason to lie really, money.

How very cynical!

Probably accurate though.
