If I were to die, what information are my family entitled to?

Not expecting to or planning on dying, just something that popped into my head and I have no clue about.

I have no will, so my parents will automatically be my next of kin, but I wondering what aspects of my life they get access to. Bank transactions, accounts, work history, medical, DWP etc are the type of things I’m thinking of.

You pr0n addiction will come to light. As will the transactions at Hookers'R'us, and your subscription to Crack Cocaine Monthly.

I always thought if I was to do something rash like commit suicide is it wrong i'd wipe my pc first?

Forget folks knowing about kinks, love me a dude in a pterodactyl outfit going nuts.

Having had to administer my fathers estate with no will etc. I can tell you no one will be looking at your PC. Most institutions will let next of kin access whatever with a death certificate. Once you've done banks, DVLA, HMRC, insurances, mortgages and pensions you've had quite enough.

Skunkworks, I've been thinking of this too.

I'm not bothered about what's stored locally on my PC, but I would like my emails (online, Gmail) to be deleted.

Semple, how do you set Gmail to auto delete? I want to keep everything while I'm alive now, but a facility where my account auto clears itself if it hasn't been accessed for X number of days.

But, if only you know the password why worry?

Ahh yes true, Koolpc :-)

I guess legally then, my relatives wouldn't have a prayer. My computer and phone are passworded too, although I wouldn't mind passwording Firefox as well if there is a master password option in the browser, as that's what I use to view Gmail with.

You can set a password for password autofill. Or just use something like LastPass and don't check automatically log in.

As mentioned you can make life easy for whoever is appointed executor of your estate by having account details, email address and any other confidential/personal information already compiled for them.

Obviously keep this somewhere secure :p

I would imagine with no express wish for anything in particular to be kept between you and your executors then your family would be exposed to whatever is deemed important.
