Non chav European beach holiday destinations

I'm looking for some inspiration for something a little different in terms of holiday destination. I'm sick of going to Spain and even though we stay in nice resorts and hotels you still end up in close proximity to Irish themed bars, sports bars, and microwaved meals in restaurants.

We've been to the following in recent years:

Tenerife
Gran caneria
Mallorca

Anyway enough moaning, can people suggest beach locations with some class and culture with nice hotels and good for young kids?

I'm thinking either Portugal, montenegro, Croatia or cape Verde would be nice, anyone been to these locations? Any recommended resorts?

Could try Minorca? Quieter than Majorca, more suited to relaxed beach holidays. Went last year, found it lovely

Have you considered Italy? Either somewhere along the Tuscan coast or near Naples? You get what you pay for though and everywhere nice in Europe is pretty commercialised.
