Life changing philosophical thoughts

Manners makes the man.

If today were the last day of my life, would I want to do what I am about to do today?

Life is short.

The race is long and in the end, it's only with yourself.

Kings don't run.

Had it in my signature for years. Don't wish it was easier, wish you were better. Then my new one :)

There's no value doing something if it's easy. Keep trying, keep improving. An achievement is only an achievement if it cost you something.

Also, don't judge yourself against others, judge yourself against your former self.

Those are all gems. Me likey.

Life is a competition.
That one is not really a philosophy and I'm fairly sure I made it up, either that or I read it somewhere forgot about it and it's stuck with me. It motivates me either way.

Hate losing more than you love winning.
And that's a classic.

Not so, life is a blag for most of us, the older you get the more I realise that we "know" very little what matters is that you convince other people that you "know" more than a little.

The most valuable life lesson I was ever told, which straightened me out of a wobbly period in my youth, essentially boils down to 'play the game'.

when getting really really stressed at work - northern girl I worked with put things into perspective

"don't worry yourself about it, its not like we're saving lives here Dowie, it's only money"

If you always do what you always did then you will always get what you always got
