Non chav European beach holiday destinations

there are not a lot of beaches on the amalfi coast!! its all cliffs!!

those that do exist tend to be privately owned and you pay for the privelage!

it is however utterly glorious, fantastic food and wine

Sardinia is lovely as well..all the benefits of Italy...but more beaches..roads are still mad and parking in the wrong place is an easy route to a fine

Has anyone been to Montenegro recently, I would love to one day go back, I went with family when I was about 7, a year or two before the break up of Yugoslavia.

From what I can remember it was great!, I can't remember what coastal resort I went to and I think there is about 3 main resorts on the coast.

Being only 7 or so when I went I can't remember much, but the beach was great and there was a nice little lane just by the beach that had restaurants and stalls selling things and I remember a bloke with an ice cream stall and he would do some juggling technique of some sorts when serving the ice-cream.

Never needed a car, loads of buses to get everywhere and taxis that will always pick you up at set times and not want paying until your dropped back off at the hotel.
Cheap to eat and drink as well. My all time fave place.

Went last October, it is lovely. Though only for a few nights, Nicosia is a sight to visit too,both sides of the wall,

We've been to the following in recent years:

Tenerife
Gran caneria
Mallorca

Anyway enough moaning, can people suggest beach locations with some class and culture with nice hotels and good for young kids?

I'm thinking either Portugal, montenegro, Croatia or cape Verde would be nice, anyone been to these locations? Any recommended resorts?

Pretty much this.

I fear he will now pick number 4 on the list.

Basically anywhere cheap within Europe will be full of chavs.

So go for Dubai, Phuket, Miami, Cancun, Goa, Maldives, Seychelles, etc, etc.

You get the point. Don't go somewhere because it's cheap then complain about chavs nearby.

European hot beach destinations tend to be cheap why not go further afield? Also why does it need to be a beach destination? Why not a hot city? Marrakech?
