DX12 Gears Of War Ultimate Editon now out

4K requirements are not accurate. I only have 6GB Ram + GTX 980 Ti + Core i7-980X. 4K for me is very smooth at all times. In task manager the game only uses 1.7GB RAM lol! Textures do actually look modern lots of tessellation is used as well. The lighting FX looks a little dated in places but overall for £23 I would say its just about worth it.

Nowhere near as pretty as recent games like Rise Of The Tomb Raider & Mad Max however.

lol what a fail, it doesnt say anywhere on the store that it includes the 3 games...

So this is effectively only GoW1? I'm glad I have GoW games on the 360 instead. Might not look as pretty but that price for a single game this old .

They are trading on the hype of "console exclusive finally coming to PC".

Sales of Master Chief Collection would carry the store single-handed.

My 980ti system is running poorly in the game. It's even a slideshow in the menus. Nano fares better, but had visual artefacts and still stutters... poor.

Am I the only one who thinks the game looks actually quite good for such old game, despite being remastered version?

I randomly had £10 sitting in my MS account, so it cost me £13 on my credit card.

Just can't for the life of me work out how to take any screenshots in the game.

Printscreen only shows the desktop background.

MSI Afterburner doesn't work at all (No overlay, Screenshot button does nothing)

Nvidia Shadowplay seems to have dissappeared and been replaced by 'Share'?! Apparently you activate that with Alt+Z but again, that didn't work.

Any ideas?

Can't talk about 980Ti. But AMD needs to release driver update for Fiji series to handle memory properly. Remember Fiji series use system ram as additional VRAM pool, and they stream simply textures in when needed. You can actually monitor this usage with GPU-Z, where you have Dedicated (GPU) and Dynamic (System) memory usages for Fiji cards.
Ashes is good example how the memory management works, when it works as it's overshooting that 4GB pool even at 1080p.

Here is good queote about:

HBM is used like an embedded cache. So any textures/data needing to be rendered in a given frame, resides in the framebuffer (HBM). Any textures/data which is not needed, resides in the system RAM. So what the AMD driver does is use the PCIe bus to transfer data back and forth from the framebuffer to the system RAM and back again as needed. This requires game specific optimizations. This isn't new, AMD stated this back when they launched Fiji.

What he means with "HBM is used" , doesn't mean that it's HBM feature, but AMD is using it this way as they have limited amount of VRAM at their disposal.

Alt+enter to windowed mode until you get into the actual gameplay, then alt+enter to full screen. This should stop the menus and cut scenes grinding down to a slide show

Odd, both print screen and gfe overlay work fine for me. I'll try record some footage later :)

I have two screens and 'extended desktop', I wonder if it's something to do with that?

Which is another annoyance with the game to be honest.

Primary Desktop screen - 1440p Displayport AOC Monitor
Secondary 'Gaming/Home Cinema' Screen - 2160p HDMI 2.0 TV

The game doesn't let you select which screen to use, BUT the resolution lets you go over the maximum of the primary monitor! So you can select 3840 x 2160 on the 1440p monitor (which obviously doesn't work)

I have to do that annoying thing where you have to chance the 'primary' monitor around to launch it on the TV screen.

As luck would have it I'm running dual monitors, I think I have it extended also :p

I hit print screen, dropbox tells me it's saved a screen shot, open image, crop out other monitor and save again.

Though my primary monitor is the one I game on, secondary is my old 1080/120hz.

How are you guys getting the original to run?

I could rip the disc on my laptop and mount the image on my main PC...
