Limiting a 'raid' to that same formula just seems a smaller event and likely far less complex, though I can imagine trying to make something for 8 players isnt easy. Perhaps theyll take a SWAT approach and spilt you up to do objectives at the same time or something...

I thought maybe a race kind of thing. Race to the top of the building and clear all enemies / defeat boss.

Winners get better loot?

it does mean however that you can help lower ranked friends through "hard" missions and give them the loot you don't want.
Potentially, but as hard missions scale the loot up, you will likely find that the loot you get couldn't be used by the lower level players anyway, not until they level up.

I'm sure there will be ways to abuse it, but I think the were they're doing it will minimise things a bit.
I wouldnt surprised if both gear and missions have a level floor so you can only do variants or give loot to people that arent that far off that level. Otherwise you could shepard someone whose really low level (hell missions seem to allow people to not even to be actively in them outside of being in the party) and they could rank up very quickly and get end game gear without any real hassle.

Now how does DZ work with all this? Or even loot you buy from vendors?

Perhaps, tbh Destinys my main point of reference when it comes to raiding so was expecting something that requires some lateral thinking rather than just who can kill the fastest. As an older guy it makes me a bit more engaged in a game - its why I generally only play objective based MP modes...

Gonna watch those level 25 playthroughs and see if that grabs me!

Never played destiny. Only got the ps4 recently to play siege and this with friends.

I agree a timed/ race raid would be pretty dull and get boring quick. 8 man raids, would that be easily implemented? Or maybe take your point of two independent squads doing different objectives before coming together at the end for a final boss fight, where the objective is clear (kill him/her/them) so no need to be on comms in an actual 8 man party. If that makes sense?

Going off Dredds idea perhaps 2 4man squads are inserted into a skyscraper - one from the ground and one from the roof and you have different tasks to complete (escort hostages or turn power on to the lifts etc etc) before meeting up to tackle the final boss. It would my expectation that comms would work for each team and then finally the whole squad at the end.

This could be taken asynchronously where you matchmake for the final boss with another team who has got there in the same time rather than potentially waiting for the other team you started with to get there.

Hell a fail state could ignore the loss of a team to make the challenge even harder...

Now how does DZ work with all this? Or even loot you buy from vendors?

Dark Zone Vendors have a high level requirement to stop people buying the best loot early on

Loot dropped by the NPCs will be at the level of that instance. DZ01 is lower rank, DZ02 has higher rank, DZ03 has even higher still etc..

As for other players you shoot, thats just whatever level gear they have on them.

Sorry I meant regards to trading, could I get something from the DZ zone and give it to say DaveyPitch if he was in my DZ party (when I got it and extracted it) once we get out of the DZ?

And how does that work with bought items from vendors - can we just give stuff to people that dont have the funds/level to buy them. Its not like you cant carry higher level items.

The way I understand it is trading can only be done at the end of a mission with your squad with the rewards you got for finishing it.

This is how I understand it as well

So you can't trade anything, only mission rewards and loot dropped in your game together. The blog post is a bit non specific however

Players in the same squad will be able to trade loot that’s collected during their co-op game session.

But i'm pretty sure you not going to be able to give items you bought from a vendor that way.

Yep, way i see it

i'm starting to think maybe more then one activity for 'end game' seems like a nice idea unlike destiny only thing you do is raid ( or PVP iron banner)

Still a pretty neat idea though, the frustration my friends and I had in destiny when we all got drops that others wanted was massive, especially on Oryx.

Its definitely a specific response to community requests that came from player experiences in destiny. We've been asking for this since the beginning for destiny.

Loads of ideas they could do, will be more fun then destiny raid with 6 players (destiny only created one decent raid anyway)

Extra 2 players don't automatically mean it's going to be more challenging or engaging.

wait and see :) i'm happy they are creating own ideas for end game.

about 60 posts back. Amazing how the interest in this game has picked up. The first page of this thread was back in 2013.
I remember having a proper nerdgasm when I saw the first E3 video back in 2013, it's been such a long time coming for me, I was hooked from the start. New York is my favourite city in the world, and I've spent quite a bit of time there. Having an opportunity to play a game based on such a well copied model of it, that was the icing on the cake for me.

Guess they had a ton of Division orders to process though
