PC :D :D

I need to get to bed (working at 6am on Easter Monday yay) :( stopped watching when they said they were taking 10-15 minute break.

I have absolutely no idea what's going on in this thread!

In the 1980s, some really good programmers, artists and composers created software demonstrating what could be done with the home computers of the time - demos. Some demos were probably the most advanced and efficient use of those computers, since that was the goal. They were amazing to people who had those computers.

Some people are doing the same thing today, with the same 1980s hardware (or possibly an emulation of it, I don't know).

I like the nostalgia and admire the skill and knowledge, but it does seem rather like racing stock Ford Model T's in 2016.

The memories; the banter between ST and Amiga owners; the attempts by the London boys and TCB to port whatever Red Sector could conjure on the Amiga on to the ST. The impatient wait for that manila envelope containing 10s of public domain 3.5 disks to drop through the door; staring bleary eyed at the scroller for hours on end. Spending hours using Devpac 2 hacking code trying to emulate these code greats.

Revisiting the demo scene is like re-reading a uni paper I wrote on Biosensors 23 years ago during 1st year Software Engineering course. WTF.

Wow i was a Proud Amiga Owner back in the day but im so glad i grew up ! :P

What does having an Amiga and using your talent to create something that over 20,000 people would be watching and cheering for, be indicative of age? Oh that's right, going out and getting drunk that's what most adults do right?

This was awesome

Same way if you build something cool out of lego or sing into a hairbrush and put it on youtube for 20k views is still childish.

The world moved on.

Like that video you posted saying its awesome, sure if you know the technical limitations of thebsystem its impressive but to most prople compared to modern stuff it looks ****.

Its like the old tapestries and drawings with no concept of depth or being 3d at thier time master peices, now, they look like something we would expect from a primary school child.

But yet we still like playing computer games....
People still watch or play football, even after playing it at school...

The world never moves on, we just all have different tastes :)

Yep but the games moved on with us .

Football is also evolving and changing

.making videos on outdated hardware that look outdated and poor in comparison to eben modest modern efforts doesnt move on.
