I'm glad this isn't mumsnet or I'd be shot down in flames here, but my gf is being induced on Saturday and it's a long process. I will be bored, yes even on this magical day!

So GD, spec me something to help me through the hours of sitting about in a hospital. Whether it's any good android games, books etc, I'm all ears.

Take a charger and download some games. GTA San Andreas, Sky Force, Asphalt 8 etc. Download some to programmes and movies from Iplayer etc.

I honestly doubt you'll have time to read a book. It's a long process but I doubt you'll be waiting out in the corridor on your own!

Congrats!

Yes, it can be an insanely long process (14 hours before labour for my wife) so having something to do will help! Depending on the hospital you could go for a walk, do a bit of shopping etc.

Got a laptop? There's plenty of games I can think of that'll kill a load of time.

Sleep. It will be the last you get for 4 years.

Also offer to help clean up sick an poo around the hospital. It will be good training for what you're about to do.

Oh and empty your wallet and hand it out to anyone that asks for money. More good practice.

All the best with the birth.

As for the waiting part - my wife was over 50 hours and that was before I had a half decent smartphone. In hospital recently and had to wait around a lot so just got a few good games to play on the tablet and don't forget a charger with a long lead! (Can recommend Anker non-tangle kind).

Earplugs, helps block out the obscenities she'll be screaming at you...

Oh and comfy footwear, as she'll also make you walk a lot. Well more sort of drag her about hunched up moaning about pains, oooh aahhh...

Good luck ! ;)

"Its a long process" - you might be surprised.

My wife was induced for the birth of our first child, the kid was born 50 minutes later.

Then again, she managed to drop the second one in the hallway after a 45 minute labour with only 3 year old for company so she might not be a bit faster than average!

Don't count on it being a long process......my wife was induced when we had our twins and both were born in about 30 minutes and 7 minutes apart.

Was a 14hr wait for my son in 2002. I was in that delivery suite for hours (only so many games of snake you can play) but I doubt you'll be bored. You will get to experience everything that your missus is going through so enjoy it.

Cheers lads, music sounds like a good idea. No laptop to bring though! May just put my full tower and monitors in the boot
