Having just bought an Aeropress (two actually, one for home and one for work), I picked up some flavoured coffee from The Bean Shack. Sadly, they've closed now.

Do you drink flavoured coffee? What do you recommend and where do you get it from? Also, what's the preferred grind for an Aeropress?

Ta.

I prefer getting my flavour from the beans itself, rather than a 'flavouring' being added. Rave and Hasbean are popular, Rave is my go to :)

If you're going flavoured, I'd go the syrup route as you can add it to taste. Personally the only thing I ever use is sugar free vanilla, and I tend to only use a little now and then just to sweeten it.

You can also make your own syrups if you want - just make a stock syrup (using brown sugar) and add something in (cinnamon etc).

As for Aeropress grind, I'd go fine but not too fine - slightly coarser than table salt.

The only flavoured beans they I've ever liked is pecan nut, all the others were vile. Adding syrup is much preferred to add flavour, or a sprinkle of cinnamon.

Any thing sweet for me, Im working my way through a bag of Mudpie Coffee from a local indie Coffee shop atm. They stock over 50 different style's of coffee bean from around the globe.
I plan to work my way through them.

if you don't have a grinder most places will offer it preground for you, Rave actually offer aeropress as a grind option (this is what I get for work so I don't need to adjust my grinder at home.

essentially slightly finer then a French press but not to the extent of espresso. don't worry too much though as aeropress is very forgiving and other larger factors can be changed such as wait time.

Flavoured coffee - Just say no! Buy good coffee instead. ;)

Got one at the moment that is basically hot ribena and another that is melted rolo.

Grind, a little coarser than table salt. Just ask for a filter grind. You can always extract for a longer or shorter amount of time to adjust.

Check out www.brewmethods.com for Aeropress recipes too.

On the subject of flavoured coffees for Aeropress, are mocha/chocolate flavoured ones also not good? I would have just assumed they would have ground cocoa beans in there?

My current batch of mocha flavoured coffee from Harrods (a gift) is just about to finish so I need to try something else not too bitter. I quite like smooth/mild - recommendations welcome.

Is stuff from Whittard ok? I have one in town from where I could pick something up.

Pretty much any of the Hasbean that list chocolate in the flavour are good. You can always add some more chocolate if you want it to be more of a 'mocha' but good coffee doesn't need it imo.
