Uninstall Facebook

I deleted my Facebook and Twitter, I had no real need for either of them and Facebook was just a means of passing the time when I was bored. Got sick of being messaged or tagged in something for the sake of it by people I've not seen since school.

If my friends planned on doing something they would find a way to get a hold of me, text or phone call probably.

that's for something rally organised.
the ones not on facebook, miss out a lot on spare of the moment type things. coming to pub/cinema etc.

the reasons for not using facebook or leaving it in these threads is always funny.

If your friends know you aren't on facebook and go somewhere without you they aren't really your friends.

Deleted FB in 2008, or so I thought. Speculatively logged back in to make sure in 2014. Everything was still there. Manually "deleted" everything and renamed the account and tied to a throwaway email address. I'm sure there's still audit trail though.

All I lost was contact with a bunch of people from my past who I can't say I miss. The good friends stayed in touch by other means.

I never liked it enough to miss it, and from what I've seen of it since I don't think it's something I would want to be part of.

It's a platform designed to gather demographic information for advertising under the guise of social networking. Plain, and simple.

Facebook advocates : is going to a bar with 5 mates sitting in near silence whilst staring at your Facebook feed the future shape of enhanced social interaction Facebook delivers?
Its something I've witnessed more than a few times whilst overseas with work - very much hope it doesn't become the norm here too.

I'm not going lie, Facebook gave me anxiety and made me question my self worth quite a bit, which is ridiculous.

Just wait until we have augmented reality contact lenses. :)

It's popular amongst women, the obese, the highly insecure, attention whores, kids and gays. Meta groups with something to proof. If you're not in any of those groups you won't find it particularly useful.

I am however, above all expectations, a newly converted fan of Twitter. I'm not sure how to word this correctly. Maybe 'follow'? Anyway, I follow certain technology and gaming companies and found that it's quite easy to get easy access to stuff I'm interested in. Since I don't follow individuals I've not seen a selfie or someone's lunch on there yet. Very pleasant.

Installed FB to help buff a mates building's in a game as he asked for help till I got banned from that game. Never used FB since. Just wait for the day when people are saying "remember when we had to use mobile phones".

Somewhat disagree (though they are probably the people who "benefit from it most) - I don't really use it much but we've an ongoing group conversation on there with extended family/relatives with about 20 members and a work group both of which are useful for touching base and sometimes organising nights out, etc. that wouldn't really be possible otherwise.

Dunno why some people have such a problem with it - its trivial these days to block 99% of the rubbish and largely no one is forcing you to use it outside of what is useful for you.

My Facebook feed seems to be constantly full of other people's children, who I don't have any interest in knowing about.
I don't go on it much, hardly post comments.

My wife tends to use it as a photo album more than anything else and showing her family back in India what we're doing.

Got rid of face book last year started it up again a few weeks ago to use tinder.

I can honestly say life is no differnt with or without face book.

FB free for many years. Account deactivated and never looked back. Then again, I was never addicted and hardly ever posted.

I left it alone for good a few days ago, Spent way way too much time on there doing literally sweet F.A, Getting into discussions with people over things I would never talk about that are totally garbage and utterly wasting my time.

Kinda meant all that tongue in the cheek. Yet it does seem to have a propensity to attract those specific groups I mentioned.

I jacked it in because I found Twitter to be more useful for someone like me that don't actively post anything or participate but just read information. It's more clean and I don't have to wade through rubbish your average moron post on Facebook. I only follow certain companies and they very very seldom re-tweet anything so less chance of having to rub shoulders with attention seekers.

For those who have left Facebook how are things on the other side? Did you keep messenger or go all the way? Curious to know why people left too.

Things are going fine.

I chose to leave because I became tired of other people's attention seeking status updates.

I use Facebook on/off, I understand it's trendy to hate Facebook but I actually find it quite useful. Over the last week I've:

- arranged with a group of friends for some beers inna group chat. Could have probably used WhatsApp but wait who owns that.

- posted in a group of friends where we are doing DIY stuff and uploaded some before/after pics of a room I decorated.

- asked my network to recommend a local plasterer, got a few good recommendations and the one I chose is plastering 4 ceilings and a wall for me on Tuesday and Wednesday

- kept in touch with a few friends from Germany, where I used to live

- read a couple of interesting news articles posted by friends with similar interests

If you use Facebook in a decent way the it's actually a really good tool.

Edit: forgot, poked mrk 5 times in a row

Facebook LOL..

I use to use a website which is very much like facebook till I noticed I was wasting away most my life on it...

But I still end up wasting lots of life away on browsing the internet and on forums like this one........:o:o:o:(
