Drone hits passenger jet

If only there was laws about where you could fly them.

It seems that the current laws just aren't dissuading people from flying them stupidly.

I always thought they had GPS that prevented them from being able to fly into restricted airspace.

Modern ones by DJI do indeed have this. Nothing to stop a non-GPS one flying wherever they like though.

Only the main stream ones like DJI drones (and it's something they've voluntarily added). Home built or ones from places like HobbyKing - nope.

Oh boy. Here we go.
Hopefully this clown gets caught and an example made of. He's potentially just screwed up drone flying for everyone.

Sadly, it was only a matter of time. It's lucky it only hit the front of the plane and wasn't sucked through an engine, especially on final.

I don't see why it would screw it up for everyone. If you drive at 150mph on the motorway and smash into loads of cars, do they ban driving?

I have no idea what goes through peoples heads flying a drone anywhere near an airport, there's the potential to commit mass murder and kill hundreds of people, for the sake of flying a ****ing drone.

I'm all for personal freedoms but it seems like it's only a matter of time before the government just has to ban them altogether, and it's a damn shame because they're a very cool toy

It's easier to track people who smash up a load of cars by virtue of a licensing and registration scheme and the likelihood of the perpetrator being stuck inside their wreckage.

No, but cars are an everyday requirement, drones aren't. Putting the lives of 100+ people at risk because of a hobby is unacceptable and this is how the law will see it.

Personally I hope they catch the ****er and present him for the whole world to see.

No they don't. But if you fly a drone into a aircraft and kill 200 people they ban drones because drones aren't an essential part of the economy

They should just ban them stupid drones..

Having some Privacy is bad enough now days with all the mobile camera's ,web cams, dash cams, Cams the outside of loads of buildings, Cams at work places etc etc and now we got all these these flying camera's
