Happy St George's Day

StGeorge is our patron saint we chose him or at least someone did because they thought StGeorges aid is what we needed. It all goes back to a very different culture, modern pedantic literalism can be so annoying at times.

I also think that Lions aren't native to England and that many of the national institutions of England found to be bearing mythical creatures on their on emblems, crests, whatever you want to call them aren't actually real either.

None of it makes any logical sense, it's like these people in the past signified their beliefs through make believe objects and symbols that represented an idea or concept?!

So so odd. The flag of England should probably be a blue background, representing an Ocean, which England is in, and a green image of England, signifying that it is a body of land in an Ocean. This would be a clear declaration indicating to any other nation state that the flag is indeed Englands, since it would clearly be a visual representation of England, in an Ocean.

To clear things up there should also be 'ENGLAND' printed clearly at the bottom. Preferably in French and Urdu too (Only kidding!)

I'd vote for the green on blue simple to watch the EDL knuckle-draggers flip their lids. The Urdu/French combo will be a sweet cherry to top that :p

I've taken the liberty to put forth a first draft of our new flag, one that truly represents England, none of this illogical claptrap such as mythical Knights and non native wildlife.

There should be absolutely no confusion about the Country we are now. From the French, those who speak and read Urdu and those who cannot read at all, there will be in no doubt, that this, is, England.

As for our Patron Saint, it needs to be a person, of neither Gender, so as to show we are inclusive of all, not white, not brown, not yellow. But a Human.

What better, than a generic smart phone person icon? It can be anything to anyone. A Patron Saint that EVERYONE can identify with.

it's been a great St-George's day, sunshine, got my little boy a gift for his Saint's day, great big smile on his face, now Mrs Tosno is making home made fish n' chips :D

A lot of people (quite rightly IMO) don't give a toss about it. Alas, let's sit back and watch the patriots/right-wing have a field day ;)

Shots fired! :p

I agree...somewhat, should all patron saint's days be ignored? I certainly think so, starting mainly with St. Patrick's day. It's not even British ***.
