So who is actually going to buy a 1070 or 1080 ?

the 1080 is the full sized chip, 1070 is the cutdown version, if you mean Ti and Titan, that would be a completely different chip in 2017 probably Q2

No it isn't... they're doing the same thing that they did with the last two generations because they're so far ahead of ATi/AMD.

GTX670/680 = mid-range / mobile version of GTX780Ti / Titan
GTX970/980 = mid-range / mobile version of GTX980Ti / Titan X
GTX1070/1080 = mid-range / mobile version of GTX1080Ti / Titan 1080

You can get a vague idea of the real full-size chip from the Tesla announcement:

Expect a 25-40% performance bump over the 1080 and 16GB memory for the new titan... probably 12 for the Ti.

See what AMD brings to the fold first and then I'll buy, seems to me that AMD is always best for price to performance so that is probably what I will get considering Freesync is well, free. Want to get the XF270HU but not sure what the QC will be like :/

Yep only have a 780 atm, but I want one with the other coolers from msi etc so not the reference versions.

Not sure if 1070 or 1080 yet.

I'm tempted to replace my 780 with a 1070 but i will be waiting for reviews and AiB custom cards aswell as polaris specs

I'll be getting either a 1070 or next gen AMD. only running 1080p so if AMD can give me better than 390 / 970 performance for significantly less money I will probably go their way tbh.
