Hi im getting a new system for bf1 coming out.

Im a n00b so not sure what best monitor to get for gaming. I will have the new pascal 1080 card coming out. Any recommend monitor want ideally 28" > 32.

Budget around 500-600

Do you want to play the game at a max 60FPS? That's all you'll get with the current crop of 4K monitors, which is a crying waste given the DP 1.4 connectivity on the 1080 would allow for double that, up to 120FPS at 4K. The rub is that there are no such monitors available yet, but there will be later this year with any luck. In the meantime, you have to decide if you're happy at 60Hz 4K, or would perhaps enjoy an ultrawide 21:9 3440x1440 at up to 100FPS, or a 16:9 144Hz experience. Once you can decide on that, the choice of monitor becomes much simpler. Your budget would probably rule out 21:9, so it will come down to 16:9 1440p 144Hz or 16:9 4K 60Hz. :)

what he said /\

if you're planning to get a new system and monitor for BF1 then I'd wait till October, the 1080 will be cheaper and we'll know more about DP1.4 monitors.

Thanks guys appreciate the comments. my overall budjet was about £1500 on machine and then spending 600 on monitor. Again if its £100 extra to get the most out of card then of course ill spend it.

Your right in that i may as well take advantage of the new graphics card and this is the advice i was after so lets go with the thought of i would like 120fps :P

21:9 no questions asked, it's the only way to play if you want the best experience, take a look in the X34 or 21:9 threads. You can also have 1440p and 100hz in this format as well.
There is only a couple of games currently that don't support it so don't worry about that and BF1 will support 21:9 on release day.
You will need quite high hardware to power it but the new 1080 will breeze it by the looks of things. 21:9+1080=happy BF days.

Once you've gamed in 21:9 you'll never go back to 16:9 it's ruined like Tyrone had a go on ya missis :-)

There is a x35 cheaper than the x34 on amazon is this just a "deal" or a reason why its 1 inch bigger and cheaper i.e not as good?

I think im set on the above 21:9 like you say and was on the x34 after all your advice.

Excited. soon as new card is out ill be getting my build and monitor.

That is the Z35. It's a completely different model. It has a 2560 x 1440 rather than 3440 x 1440 resolution and uses a VA rather than IPS panel. I have a detailed review up on my website (see signature) and there's also a great review on TFT Central. Also note that competitor linking isn't allowed, so I'd advise you to remove the link.

Beat to it, yeah different monitor, your basically swapping 21:9 for more hz with that one, 144hz 16:9 instead of 100hz 21:9. Plenty of homework is required before spending this sort of money on a monitor.

Cheers chaps.

Also found different models of x34

Acer XR341CK
Acer Predator X34bmiphz

Like you say i'll go off now and read lots and lots and do my homework :)

Lol ok the X34 is the Nvidia G-sync version, the one you want.
The XR34 is the AMD Free-sync version, the one you don't want as your going to buy an Nvidia card. Your going to be paying quite a knock up for the pleasure of G-sync so you have to get the compatibility right, it's well worth it though imo.

Don't buy your monitor from a dodgy retailer, go for somewhere popular like here for example, not sure where you've found the product code X34bmiphz but looks like some sort of Jap model.

Ah yup, be careful where they source their stock, be very careful. I would leave auction and rain forest sites alone if it was my money. Plus more than anything else you'll have the added ball ache if you need to send it back for whatever reason.
