Im not really a brand whore, but looking at that car, certainly the inside, you can kind of see why BMW/Audi/Merc are still the daddies with luxury motoring. The lexus,Inside, still looks like a upmarket Toyota.
The thing is, compare it with the equivalent BMW of the same age:
You know all this Rilot but for the benefit of others:
This is completely unfair, the E38 was absolute end of life and last off the line at that age. You can barely even find an 02 plate one. The E38 is a 1996 car (and looked great in the 90's).
Here is an early E65 which was the 2002 model 7-series

OP failed. This is what he should have gone for:

At least the old 7 series hasn't aged quite so badly.
Neil, how would you assess the audio quality of the Mark Levinson system? I'm guessing it doesn't have bluetooth phone prep (I don't mean A2DP). Without doing a load of googling, do you know if it is easy to retrofit some sort of USB input for memory stick/iPod/iPhone via a CD Changer input?
Guessing you must be approaching retirement right?
I wouldn't be seen dead driving around in that thing.. not even that cheap.
In the GS which uses the same nav unit is was dead easy to add iPod support. You could buy an adaptor fairly cheaply that connected to the second CD changer port on the back of the unit.
