• Competitor rules

Please remember that any mention of competitors, hinting at competitors or offering to provide details of competitors will result in an account suspension. The full rules can be found under the 'Terms and Rules' link in the bottom right corner of your screen. Just don't mention competitors in any way, shape or form and you'll be OK.

Everyone calm down : It is amazing how short memories are

You're forgetting the 1070 though, which also beats the 980Ti, and is supposedly only going to be £300, and Polaris, which some people are saying will match the Ti, but will only be around £200, so a second hand old 980Ti, thats slower than a brand new £300 1070, and a match for a brand new Polaris at £200, wont be worth £400, it'll have to be under £200.

I'll believe it when I see it that the 1070 will outperform the 980ti....

People need to stop posting prices and performance figures as fact when they clearly are not. We won't know prices until they hit the shelves (RRP's aren't even reliable as they can depend upon stock levels) and we won't know performance till the reviews start appearing.

But you don't know that except that Nvidia said that with no proof at all or examples of where and at what resolution etc etc etc. except for hype, also it wont be 300 it will be more like 350+ Just saying because I find it irritating when people just make stuff up based on 100% best case scenario, basically a 1070 might beat a stock titan x at 1080p or it might not we don't know, and it won't be 300. And you are also saying that their polaris will be faster than a Fury X at 200, please stop it.

Maybe the whole beats 980sli thing is just because they used it and then thought "well, I can't be bothered to make an SLI profile for this game" so the 1080 wins by default.

This all seems too good to be true.

Either the cards are really fast, and really expensive.
Or they are a bit faster and a bit more expensive.

Nvidia aren't stupid.
Stock will be limited at first so selling something that is better than everything else at a lower price makes no sense.

Hopefully performance will be good as this will eventually push prices on everything else down, even if prices are really high at launch.

sounds to me like the purpose of this thread is to start an argument

I actually had a conference meeting with Jen-Hsun Huang a few months ago, as until a few days ago I was bound by multiple NDAs. Most are still in place, but what I can say is that the standard 1080 will be on par with a 980ti. There will be some small differences either way as you'd expect.

What's actually more interesting is what is currently in development for next year. The replacement for the 980ti (which is yet to be named) will offer quad titan z performance at 200 tdp, and have asics onboard which can generate 10 bitcoins per minute.

They will be limited in number at launch as they are manufactured on a new process and a new type of silicon. This new process drives cost down and the expected retail price will be £199.99 (although I expect retail to offer them at around £149.99).

5. Will the new technologies (Multi View Port / Single Pass Stereo) work out of the box with any game or does the game need coding for it. Again nothing said for a reason? If i was that good and worked out of the box, why not say so?
They did quite clearly imply that it requires dev support. I don't see how multi-view port would even be possible without some engine changes.

As for all the other business - obvious PR material is obvious PR material. Wait for the reviews. People do tend to get a bit over-excited around here :)
