How much do you drink?

I'm guessing the ones who don't drink much as that obviously makes us hermits with no friends ;)

Clearly.

It's funny how there must be something wrong with us ;)

You guys are a bit slow given your minds free from the demon drink.

Why are you so defensive about drinking? Can't you accept that some of us may enjoy one or two drinks from time to time, but can also socialise without it and still be very active socially?

Drinking every day is only a problem if you drink enough to effect your health, work-life or family life.

There is nothing wrong with a drink every day if your body/wallet/missus is perfectly capable of handling it. Three pints a day may seem like a lot but to be honest, i swear it was proven that up to 13 units a day can be drank without harm to health, given the rate of which it is drank.

It is not the amount that harms you but the amount given the rate you drink. Your liver is put under more stress if it has to sort out a bottle of wine in an hour compare to that bottle of wine in 3.

Are you sure drinking every night is not a problem?

Alcohol is a medicine, it helps soothe the pain whether it be physical or physiological.

In my opinion, one should never drink alcohol in anger or hurt because the answer is not in the bottom of the bottle. Believe me been there done that!

Ultimately I fully believe what Sir Winston Churchill said about alcohol....

I often wonder how much this great man used to drink!

Out of interest how old are you McGray?

I have nothing against drink, drinking or people enjoying a drink.

I love a good drink every now and again, but it's rare and not the only thing I can think of if I want to spend time with friends.

That's why your posts have gotten my back up just because your social circle can think of nothing else to do other than go drinking if you want to spend time together doesn't mean that the rest of us aren't a little more imaginative with the way we spend our time with others.

Drinking every night is not a problem if it does not create any problems?

Labelling drinking a problem because its drinking is ridiculous.

If you can drink a bit every day and it does not cause harm to your body, family life, social life and your wallet can take it, then why not?

Why do people assume those who drink every day have some sort of psychological issue?

If you were drinking every day because of a problem, then the problem wasn't with drink, it was with you.

Happy to go months without a sip, and then every now and then I'll enjoy a bottle of red at the weekend. Nothing much, a couple of glasses a night if I've bought a bottle or two.

If I go out drinking with friends or colleagues then I'll usually go through 7-8 pints but more often than not I'd prefer to drive, save the pennies and feel all the better for it.

With a stomach disease, drinking (especially Guinness, my drink of choice), doesn't bode well at all. I exercise regularly too, so big and often drinking sessions would mean I'd have to workout even harder - which in my eyes is self defeating.

so out of interest what do you have to drink every night? Do you find that your "immortality" to alcohol starts to increase?

Like you could have a 3/4 double spirit shots and still be stable?

Not very much alcohol (once a month or so..), but 2 cans of coke (zero) a day.... And lots of water (around 3l daily)

I probably do a bottle of wine on a Friday night with the wife weekly. Maybe twice a month I'll see friends which could be anything from a few pints to a lot more. The 'lot more' is becoming less and less as we get older.

I do plenty of things that don't involve drinking, I train, gym, play a number of instruments, walking/scrambing. Some of these I even do with friends.

I of course congratulate you on the imagination of your group though.

I do enjoy a nice drink - it's very nice to relax with.

I have some form of alcohol 3-4 days a week. Last night I shared a bottle of wine and it was dead tasty!

I understand why some people chose not to drink (I.e. Cost or health), but by the same limb I don't understand how people don't actually enjoy it. You must be built weird :p

I don't drink every night but i use to have a glass of red every day.

Being drunk or getting drunk does not reflect its effect on your liver or long term effect so i dont know what you are getting at asking about my 'immortality' for which i think you mean immunity to the effects of.

It has been proven that daily low dosages of alcohol have negligible effects to the body.

On a normal week about 1-2 decent cider bottles a week.
On a night out about 1-2 decent ciders or a cocktail additional to the above

Can take or leave alcohol, even when out

Now not at uni and only 2 days off a week I don't care to feel rough for 1 of them

All the rum :p

But maybe a few singles/doubles on a friday/sat night if just relaxing in the house with films/games.

If going out, will try and pace it out but a few beers and then rum till home time (which is usually a lot as I do like rum and it goes down too easily.... Wayheyyyy) . Only properly go out once a month, if that :p

Am cutting back when I go out though as hangovers are killer :p

I haven't received any harm from my drinking, I am in the best shape of my life and I really enjoy the taste, over the alcohol.

If they could create a non alcoholic beer or wine which tastes exactly the same, I would happily drink that instead.

It seems more people here don't drink, or drink very little as opposed to drinkers like myself.

Is this the demographic of this forum?

have 3 bottles of red wine per week but cant open a bottle and leave any , really enjoy it unfortunately ,feels like my thoughts start flowing after afew glasses and anything im doing is 10 times more entertaining whether its YouTube videos or a blu ray or just looking at sheep out of the window, maybe some of us get more of a seratonin boost or something , should cut back a bit but my will power is rubbish

I can also agree with this. Someone here posted a thread about how great it feels after about 2 pints of beer.

Things become a lot more interesting
