So not sure if this should be in GD or General hardware but am looking for advice on a really top blanket...

The missus has a thing for blankets and I want to get her a special one, excellent quality that will last a good long time, one she can snuggle up on the couch with etc.

Get one made of alpaca fur, softest and warmest stuff ever. Pricey for a blanket but it is a gift after all.

Visited the alpaca farm on the Isle of Wight two years ago and they had loads of stuff made of alpaca fur, ended up buying the gf a scarf and gloves but they had some nice blankets for sale. I am sure there are a few websites which offer alpaca or llama blankets.

Depends on your budget, I had my one made to spec but assuming you want a super king you will get a nice one for around £500.

Go for a qality Hungarian / Canadian white goose down blanket with at least 750 fill power.

I can't remember where I bought my one but spend a bit of time and you will find a good online ship. JL was a bit too expensive for me.

I would buy a all seasons one, so something like a 4.5 tog and a 9 tog

Have some nice ones in B&M

Save yourself some pennies...its a blanket. Blankets are meant to be drooled on, wipe the odd spill, wipe of the nose when no one is looking etc.

Probably not her thing, but we have a few original WW2 issue US Army woolen blankets. Absolutely fantastic, clearly last many decades and wonderfully warm with that secure weightiness.
