Tap. Pay. UK. - Android Pay in the UK

Have had no issue's activating my card twice.
Due to my Note4, noticing the latest Android build was available (Marshmallow) I though it wise to factory reset my phone.
Still haven't actually made a payment with my phone..
What is the limit on these contact less/NFC payments? I though it was £30 or £50?
Or does it vary from bank?

varies store to store. almost all take £30 contactless, and, though i'm yet to try it, up to £100 if you then provide an additional amount of security.

stores like H&M flat out refuse to go above £20

Click the plus button to add a card, then select 'add a loyalty programme', start typing Morrisons, and select it from the drop down.

(I don't actually have a Morrisons card but this is how I added other loyalty cards and assume the one that comes up for Morrisons is correct).

Yup!

I did try to add some other loyalty cards actually (B&Q, CEX, Nectar) but the Morrisons one was the only one which displayed the barcode; the rest just showed the number, anyone else had this?

Thank you.
So it should be possible to buy a tank of petrol £50, bread and milk, with just my phone...
Thank God I never leave the house without my bank card.

Yeah I tried nectar/tesco clubcard and it just shows the number so probably won't do much. I guess they need to actually support android pay rather than just showing a barcode on screen to scan or something :(

Well... this prompted me to find something else to do that job (always forgetting my loyalty cards) and found an app called Stocard which has successfully scanned all of mine so far, and even has a nice widget with icons for all of them :)

Its a shame it doesnt auto send the card details with the payment details, surely its something they could do.
As it is its literally a photo of your card.

That's pretty neat, now I can get one of those thin wallets :D

Edit: No Barclay Card :( That means I don't get any cash back as I would have to use my Lloyds debit card all the time.

But the Barclaycard app beat Android Pay to it. You have been able to use that for Contactless payments through their app for a few months now.

**EDIT** That is assuming you mean Barclaycard and not Barclays. Clearly they are two different type of card and account, but many people for some reason refer to them like they're the same thing.

Yup and the main Barclays app one is coming next month which will work with both debit and credit cards.

No. I'll have to check with my girlfriend as she works for one of the big "payment technology" companies (not a bank). But essentially the contactless limit is £30, whether card or phone. But on card or phone there is also an internal limit per day that your bank sets. If you hit that you'll have to enter your pin - or presumably unlock your phone. This also happens every X amount of transactions should you not ever do a regular chip and pin transaction in between, or go somewhere ekse you enter a pin (ie get cash out). That's the way she explained it to me, anyway.

That's good news, I don't have a Barclay card so currently can't use the app.

Android pay wont let me add anything even if i try, instead i get an error to say Android can not determine if i have a compatible version of android

I'm running stock Android 6.0.

I believe X = 5.
Possibly 10 but I'm not sure anyone should know it. Easy to test, should you be so inclined :p I personally have never had to enter my PIN for a contactless transaction because I probably still end up doing more chip+PIN transactions. Mainly due to having an Amex that for some reason still doesn't get accepted everywhere for contactless, so I normally bung it in the slot when it fails!

Anyway, those reason above are why Google have to say "you may have to unlock your phone for some transactions".

I'm confused about the £30 limit though. I'm pretty sure that's a hard limit for any contactless transaction. What happens if you try to do contactless with a £50 transaction? Does it fail, or just ask you for your PIN? I've never tried

Samsung pay is supposed to be better. Allowing you to use all PDQ machines and not just those with tap and pay. It uses the magnetic strip reader. Samsung S7 owners are getting later this year afaik and that would probably mean you can safely leave your wallet at home.
