anyone been to amsterdam?

Been once about 10 years ago, went to RLD, had to see what fuss was about. I vaguely remember thinking how the heck could this be allowed to be. Window girls on show everywhere at night, and wow did they look good, like models basically, cannabis was legal(although not my thing) and thet Iocals just got on as normal as if it didn't exist - they looked very pleasant also. Thought it was like visions of hell in some senses. Very indulgent side to RLD. Quite a few African rasta types pestering you to buy drugs also. It was fun though. Maybe it's changed since then. Worth a look once.

I was there last year. I stayed in a hotel on Noorderstraat. There are many museums there to see. Don't miss the Hermitage Amsterdam or the Rijksmuseum. Definitely don't miss the Van Gogh museum. The food is good too.

so much to do and such a explorable place on foot. so much history and a beautiful place. went with some mates few years back, there is a trend to leave left over hash , green in the hotel safe, really nice touch. although aside the in your face bang hooker get smashed and smoke weed hungover, go with a open mind and do what you want, the people are so friendly, id love to live there.

Think if you need to ask then maybe Amsterdam isn't the place for you :p

awesome place, went for a short weekend there which was a bit of a blur, walking around the red light district during the day was hilarious, sat in a coffee shop people watching - watched as some weird bloke with a small suitcase on wheels approached a bunch of windows, god knows what his special request was but the first few girls looked offended and sent him away. Later on we ended up in a club in a former church - Dutch girls are hot and almost invariably speak perfect English.

i went last year and i wasn't really impressed at all tbh, I ended up just wandering around doing very little, then getting wrecked and going back to my hotel. The following days in Rotterdam were far better tbh.

I went recently for 4 nights and thought it was great!

I stayed in the Toren, which is right by the Anne Frank museum, great location, quirky and fun. Definitely a 'couples retreat' though and there's undoubtably better value options.

Plenty of things to do:
Just wondering round it's lovely
V gough / rickmuseum (sic)
Red light district - pretty shocking stuff tbh
Sexmuseum is an amusing way to spend half an hour
Went to a bodyworks thing which was cool
Zoo
Anne frank museum - I didn't do this because I didn't book months in advance.... Book now! Or a 3 hour queue.
Went to a theme park, eftling, which was a good laugh and easy to get to
Heineken museum
Coffee shops (if you're into that sort of thing)

Can deffo recommend doing a tasting menu / wine flight at Bordaux restaurant, mad dollar but zomg  :D

GOT TO book Anne Frank if you are planning to go...or you will be faced with a 3 hours queue (first hand experience here).

Just walk around, rent a bike from your hotel (15 euros for ours) and ride around. It's the quickest way to see the city.

Shrooms, cannabis, prostitutes in trainers and having a neck like an owl when crossing the road. Cycle lane, tram lane, car lane then holy **** water. lol  :D

Its a great city and the sex museum will have you PYSL after a few coffee breaks. :D

Only ever been for work, but would suggest try Cafe de Klos for food. They do great plates of ribs and the bar staff will be sarcastic and patronising if you order a non-alcoholic drink. I like a bit of character instead of the forced have-a-nice-day smiles.

if you like a whisky then try Whiskycafe L&B, a tiny little bar with about 1500 different whiskys lining the walls, amazing place (just don't get too drunk then try and use the bathroom, its basically up a ladder)

The house of bols is supposed be a good museum & cocktail making experience as well.
