Eleven children injured in Blyth park dog attack...

I think we all know people who have been attacked by dogs. I've had a few myself. Would agree that Labradors are the dogs that do majority tbh.

I've been bit by a lab when I was about 3-4 on my arm. Still have the scar. Can vaguely remember the incident and it was a very bad bite. Can remember being whipped up and looking at this hole in my arm with froth on it and blood. Bite went to the bone. I was reaching for a biscuit for the dog that went under the table. (note: Dog was not put down).

Walking doing papers about 14 maybe and a big Doberman jumped up being walked by a woman and latched onto my forearm but somehow did not break the skin. Woman scurried off as quick as she could with her head down.

On another note I know dog walkers of all types but I think you often get cases more severe when its women walking dogs that carry out an attack as they just can't deal with it. Dog on dog bites are common and have known of cases where bloke has had to come in and stop because two women walking dogs just go into panic mode and allow dogs to continually savage another dog.

FWIW if this was my son or daughter and I was close enough the dog would have been destroyed by me never mind it taking a needle

Edit: In fact if I was close enough and witnessed this and could have got a hold of it for anyone else's child

The owners are the problem. I live about 10 minutes from there - or at least the "posh end" of the place, yeah right - and the amount of stupid things I see or hear about is just unbelievable. Someone was tasered in the street a few weeks back outside my friends house. Scum will be scum.

Blyth has non dodgy parts? ;)

:D:D

for those saying there should be a dog license how would it work to actually stop anything?

we've got Chavy McChavface here he's applying to get a dog license.

what is going to be on the form that will stop him getting one?

Dog license with a varying cost dependant on breed. Breeds which should have higher restrictions require a more costly license, these restrictions can be from reasons ranging from breeds which suffer from very poor health due to the breeding, breeds which are used for racing where the runts or injured are abandoned and breeds which are considered fashionable by these chavs.

The license requires renewal every few years by a vet or whoever is considered qualified. Just a quick check up with assessments on the dogs behaviour made. If aggressive, the license shows that the dog requires a muzzle upon leaving the house and a standardized colour collar for aggressive dogs, warning people from a safe distance through a visual aid. Colours can show aggression as well as threat level when considering the dogs physical capabilities (to differ small yelpy dogs from aggressive stocky strong ones). Licenses go with the owner every time the dog leaves private property similarly to a horse license.

People found without licenses are banned from obtaining a future license for an amount of time, as well as fined and their address noted. breeds associated with aggression could be checked more often. Money made from the licenses could be used to fund jobs where you would have people check nearby dog parks every once in a while for unlicensed dog walkers and such. People without their license are given warnings first few times but are required to give their pets registered address which can be looked up on a phone or PDQ.

It is not bullet proof but it will definitely make an impact. These chavs love the pets too, so id imagine some would go get them licensed and people would at least be warned from the dogs specific collar code

History of violence? Substance abuse? Mistreatment of animals? Any significant criminal background at all?

Could look at needing to do a test first? Granted that doesn't work for driving as our roads are still full of muppets.

Make the law so that the owner would be charged as if they had done the damage themselves, assault, ABH, GBH, manslaughter, murder or whatever charge would apply if the act had been person on person, that might just get the irresponsible dog owners attention.

Death by dangerous dogging.... No wait that doesn't sound right :p

A labrador bit half of my staffs ear off...

He was on his lead and the labrador wasn't and it decided it wanted to fight him.

He now walks around looking like a proper ***** dog with half an ear missing lol.

Only reason we got a staff is when we went to the RSPCA that's all they had and we didn't care about the breed we just wanted a dog.

There's your mistake, You should have gotten a giant otter, those things would tear most dogs apart!

They also sound like creepy laughing children when they prepare to hunt and attack their natural prey... caiman. They also grow to 5.6" tall and belong to one of the most aggressive groups of animals, as well as intelligent enough to be trained very easily.

They belong to the same family, mustelidae. So same aggression but bigger, quicker, pack animals, can swim and are freakin terrifying.

But can they stay alive for 3hrs with a leopard biting their throat? And just in case a the ever common British King Cobra bites it can it neutralize the venom then eat the snakes head?

I think the venom is a misconception. They have much thicker skin so most bites dont penetrate enough for venom or there is not enough venom to be fatal only send them into a coma. The giant otter being from the same family also share equally dense skin help protect it from caiman bites.

As for the leopard, i dont think the leopard would get a good enough chance to get a bite on its neck or out muscle it but considering the skin that protects it against caiman would protect it against a leopard, probably would survive.

how about he has to buy from registered breeder or dogs homes, the dog has to be neutered (unless he's also a registered breeder complete with additional license)

either bull terriers are banned or always muzzeled in public and all dogs are kept on leads when outside parks/in towns and cities

licenses can be taken away for repeated breaching of rules, breeders fined or their license put into jeopardy if they sell to someone without a license

breeders and dogs homes forced to carry out mandatory checks of living accommodation and suitability before selling a dog

all dogs chipped

could easily cut down on a lot of problems

some chav has a Staffie without a muzzle or not neutered or not on a lead - they can be reported to the police, dog's chip scanned - if dog has no chip dog confiscated, if dog has a chip then license/owner checked, owner warned... repeated offences = dog confiscated

price of dogs go up, over-breeding reduced and irresponsible owners banned

Colour coded mandatory collars for dogs deemed potentially dangerous so people know when to give a wide berth if they have children or a dog which is easily agitated
