**** The Official Note 4 thread ****

That was a hefty download, nearly killed my battery! Google Now seems a little glitchy when activated and it tries to load suggestions, there's a little flickering bar the the bottom of the page before it pops up to say it can't suggest anything, but nothing major. Also tried the S-Pen menu from standby, seems to take a while to load up the memo app, perhaps time for a wipe and fresh start!

when i got my phone back there was a 1.2gb update waiting to download which was 6.0.1 DPB1, i downloaded and installed that then i had another 500mb update to DPE1. I have unlimited 4g though so whatever :p

I downloaded the 6.0 update and seems pretty quick. The install made my phone roasting hot tho!

Any good new features to try out?

google now on tap is good, as is the screen off memo. take a look at Samsung Good Lock as well, it replaces the lock screen and notification pull down with something that looks closer to stock android and has more functionality like location-aware shortcuts on the lock screen, new swipe effects etc. It's compatible with the note 4 on 6.0.1 but you might have to download it form apkmirror.com or somewhere like that as i couldnt find it on the samsung store (not listed as compatible with note 4 yet)

Why do I get this notification on every restart? - 'SD card for transferring photos and media' and the option to EXPLORE or UNMOUNT.

Is it a bug with MM?

It's not a hardware issue with my phone or SD card as they were fine before the upgrade.

I've got it too and it seems to be pretty common. Looks like it's been a problem since last year and Samsung don't appear to be trying to fix it. Annoyingly I sometimes get it popping up without a restart.

I've tried formatting the card in the phone and also used a Windows Disk Check without resolving it.

One of the annoying things about MM on the Note 4, is you can't use a fingerprint to unlock the phone from off, only from sleep.
Plus, you need to set a password (not pattern), if you want to use fingerprint unlock from sleep.

On my Tab S2, it's possible to set an unclock pattern code (from off) and then use fingerprint from sleep unlocking.

Screen Mirroring Problem Fix
--------------------------------
If you're having problems getting Screen Mirroring to work and you're rooted, try this.
Edit the "build.prop" file found in the System dir. (also alter the dir. to r/w if needed).
Add the following at the bottom of the file, save and reboot.
wlan.wfd.hdcp=disable

The above worked for me on my devices.

I think it is intended as a "feature".

So what is other user's experience's so far with the new Marshmallow update?

For me it's been a significant improvement, not that the Note4 was slow to begin with.
Slightly slower to boot, but using 100-200MB less RAM with all service's terminated,
some of the back round app's I am having a tougher time in installing or stopping them all together.

But the single biggest improvement has been battery life...
I used to get 24-36 hours between charges at 50% brightness
and regular usage of (Chrome, phone, txts, reading + youtube.) Where I'd be a sleep about 10hours of that time.

Now I am getting 36-72 hours between charges. I sleep between 20-30 hours of that. And the phone is on, connected to wifi and cell towers.
It's been phenomenal how much extra life the latest update has afforded me.
I suspect that Marshmallow, is significantly more aggressive with CPU/Ram cycle's while limiting wireless signals. But it still doing a great job. :D

What feels like episode 17 in my long running issues with Android and my battery life, MM has completely ruined it (I haven't fully confirmed it's the battery itself but it's brand new and official). Left home yesterday around 9.30am with 90-95% and was down to 10% by around 4pm with 2-2.5 hours SoT. Shocking! I am lost. Something is clearly waking my phone up but the drain even whilst been used is very fast.

I'm with you, my note 3 with the same apps installed has much battery life of my note 4 when I use then side by side. I'm finished with this phone, I can't be doing with using two full batteries and more every day. For me it seems to be the 3g/4g connection that drains the battery, if I leave it on wifi all day then the battery life is OK. Just need to decide if I go HTC10 or can wait it out for the next Nexus 6.

Got my update this morning, and battery had dropped down to 25% at 3pm... So, i guess the update itself would have nailed the battery. Will get it onto fast charger later, and see how it copes tomorrow.
Would really like to get a slightly longer battery life out of the device if possible :)

I spent moths trying to sort out the battery then there was a period of a few months when 5-7 hours of SoT was perfectly manageable, been progressively downhill since :p.

I had this problem with my Note 1 hence upgrading but looks like the Note 4 has the same kind of problems :( and ironically my Note 1 is now behaving itself (for now).

I'd get home from work with less than 50% battery left (taken off charge before leaving for work) way too often but sometimes after a reboot it would sip battery for days until reverting to draining fast again.

Since the MM update I've had 3 days 18h uptime since the last time it was on charge despite a fair bit of screen on time - the first 2 days (which I spent a fair bit of time re-configuring stuff) the battery has hardly gone down at all but now its dropping off fast - still showing an estimated 38h of battery left but pretty sure it will realistically drop before that.

Sadly think next time around I won't be going for the Note as the battery drain is just all over the place and its more than just a calibration issue.

Updated Dr Ketan's ROM (if you like flashing ROMs, this one is the bees knees) in the hope it might provide some sort of solution.
