One of my cars was stolen last night

Not a good start to this day. Was woken up this morning to find out that one of my Civic Type R's was stolen last night. I left the car with my trusted valeter yesterday for a full valet and was meant to pick it up this morning. He's got a newsagent right next to his car wash which he also owns and runs. The thiefs broke into the shop overnight and got access to the car wash through the shop, judging by the CCTV footage, they didnt find anything in the shop so started looking through the cars, they broke the security box/safe thing and found the keys for my car and another persons car that was also left on the premises over night.

Judging by the footage, they were in there a while, seeing as they couldn't find anything, they decided to take both the cars. Their accomplice who was outside used some kind of a rope or a winch to pull the metal beam off the wall outside the shutters and the thiefs inside drove and smashed straight through the shutters damaging both cars in process. I've got a copy of the cctv footage too.

Lets see how easily this mess can be sorted out now.

Check local ads ebay gumtree for parts etc but don't give up they may hold them a while before stripping could take month or few before adverts pop up. Sad people out there.

I assume your valeter is insured? The car was in his possession so I would be looking to claim through his insurance.

He probably meant that he has more than one car, and one of them was stolen.

I've already shared and posted pics of the car on all the facebook groups that I follow and yeah I agree, He shoudn't have left the keys on the premises so he is liable for it.

I do believe he is insured but I've used him for over 5 years now and my brother near enough 10 years so he's a good mate. Going to see him later on and discuss if he wants to go through his insurance or if he's willing to pay out of his own pocket as he is liable for it. I'm pretty calm about it now but not sure how the other guy will handle it as he was pretty heated up about it.

Thanks mate. I actually felt a little sick this morning when I found out because I was meant to drop my 470bhp Super charged type r off yesterday for a valet too. Imagine I went ahead with it, that would have been taken too!

Not on topic at all but what is the pink machined bit of alloy where a tow bar would usually be for? I'm probably being dense but I've seen it on a couple of cars and not managed to work it out yet.
