Just having a think recently about my prospects and what I want to do in the future. The more I do my job the less I'm convinced its something I'm going to take long term pleasure from. It's well paying, I'm good at it and, Im in an interesting environment. I know the route to the top etc ut its quite soulless in terms of spending my life on it. Can't see myself looking back and saying yeah life well spent.

So I've started looking at different areas of life, trends I see for the future, different areas to look at that might provide more interest.

Seems like there is going to be a lot of automation (especially machine learning) which is going to change dynamics. Ever increasing globalisation is another. The UK vote on the EU is interesting on how things are going to change. Hopefully something good will come out of the FX volatility..

With this in mind, i was thinking of maybe trying to partner up with someone and get my own thing underway. Ive got the savings, I'm happy to work 90hr weeks and I've got the desire. Just a question of finding what to do. ^^

So what do you guys see for the future? What do you see yourself? Any thoughts on where you think the world is heading? Any plans you'll want to do, or would do if you had the chance?

re-emergence of a servant class to serve the tech elite who will become the new aristocracy when the regular jobs are wiped out by advances in technology

everyone else will be modern peasants living in little boxes with their govt provided living wage, 1 child policy unless they can find something useful to contribute to society that can't already be done better by a machine, no more drivers, no humans required for manufacturing (save for a few highly skilled designers), humans not needed as regular doctors or nurses get replaced by robots (save for a few specialists working in research)

other exceptions to the mass unemployment being athletes, pop stars, actors, artists... basically anyone able to survive today in a non-regular job

nah actually I'm not a luddite, but certainly the tech sector will likely grow and jobs like taxi driver might well only have a decade or so left

I expect something to happen in next 50 years that kills pretty much everything, war, some idiot with nukes, airborne virus, tech getting savvy enough to realise humanity is a threat to everything etc

Zombie apocalypse,I'm prepared for it. :D

Seriously though,Who knows what the future holds for us,I can totally see Nuclear getting in the hands of the wrong people,Especially how it is right now with terrorism...maybe a major world war will break out?

But as for work and future prospects,Meh i really dont know..as of right now i live day by day..personally its got to the point now where i just dont care,i take each day as it comes.

i can see the workplaces becoming much autonomous with robots/androids though in the future doing a lot of the manual hard work.
Where this puts us,I dont know.

Yet still better than it has ever been in the past.

True but what is better ?

Immorality, subjectiveness, greed, predisposition, decadence, detachment and mobile phones. :D

No one cares anymore about anyone as people are predispositioned and conditioned to be subjective to others. No one gives a **** basically. :(

No one gives a **** anymore? Is that why so many are offended? If nobody cared political correctnes wouldn't be like it is today.

The destruction of the world within the next 100 years, either through world war or AI takeover.

'On the eighth day machine just got upset
A problem man had not foreseen as yet
Time for flight, blinding light
Nothing but a void, forever night...'

Nobody has ever accurately predicted the state of the future a 100 years from their time (so far). Even just a few years is difficult enough.
If it was easy to spot the beginnings of the next wave to catch we'd all be quids in.

Back to the future did not too bad though...

I think for most people things are going to carry on pretty much just as they are. Not many 'jobs for life' these days though, and if I was just starting out I would have gone self employed/started a business as soon as I could. Not many people get rich working for someone else!
Speculate to accumulate...
