Myself and some friends are looking to attend PAX East next year and plan on building a holiday around the event. What places to see and eat would people recommend we visit in Boston or surrounding areas? Considering possibly New York as an option too as it's not too far away.

Science Musuem
Aquarium
Museum of Fine Arts
Freedom Trail
Paul Revere House
Harvard Musuems
JFK Library
Habor Tour
Movie Tour
Fenway Tour (And a game if you can)
Sam Adams Brewery

I also enjoyed visiting Salem for the Witch Musuem.

Worth getting a boston Go card as well.

Thanks for the suggestions, going to Boston next month.

Moody nailed it.

I'd just add to take it easy and walk as much as possible. Boston is extremely "walkable" - I got just as much pleasure from walking around, especially through the parks (Boston Common and the neighbouring Public Garden are lovely), over the various bridges, and around the more historic neighbourhoods (e.g. Commonwealth Av.) - as I did doing the set pieces.

If you want to save a load of money on Hotels you can stay in Cambridge and get the tram into town. It's ridiculously cheap.

Charleston Navy yard is worth a look too, you can do a tour of the USS Constitution if you're into that sort of thing.

haven't really thought about accommodation yet, which we probably should. Got a basic list of places to see so far though :)

I was a bit underwhelmed by Boston after spending a week there last year with work. Considering there are two big universities in the area, I would have expected a lot more to do tbh. The main park was nice and we did the obligatory photo outside the Cheers bar but otherwise it was a bit 'meh'.

Stay on the plane for a few more hours and go to San Francisco instead :)

Not really an option tbh as the main reason we want to go to Boston is for PAX, so most likely stay on the East Coast.

If you wanna go further out to Jamaica Plain then Arnold Arboretum is massive and worth checking out, from certain spots you get a great view of the skyline.

As well as Fenway the sports museum at TD Garden is also neat.
